System Shock

Will not run on Intel Arc

Wont even launch. Thats a shame, the overwhelming majority of my other games run no problem on the intel graphics platform. I've tried multiple fixes with no luck. Please fix this issue so I can enjoy this classic.

West of Loathing

Beauty in simplicity

I wont say this game is perfect, there were a few things that sort of annoyed me but they were trivial compared to the overall experience. I really loved this game's uniqueness and simplicity. I honestly thought I would find it boring because this game has no fancy graphics, no voiced dialogue, no color, and long text-only dialogues but honestly I really liked it. I found myself engrossed in the quirky little stories and the adventure of brining the various conflicts to resolution without having to rely on the hand-holding found in other RPGs like quest journals or map markers. The turn-by-turn combat was entertaining enough as well though it did get far too easy really quickly. Though you can choose different difficulty levels, I recommend that adult players choose higher level difficulties from the start because the default is far too easy and can ruin combat experience.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected

Great game, poor stability

By now this game is ancient in terms of PC years. The game itself is awesome and one of my favorite RPG's but sadly it has serious performance and stability issues on modern hardware. Lots of random freezes, crashes, and performance issues. My system can run Skyrim with all the settings maxed out without a hiccup and yet was struggling with this game. This seems to be a common problem I'm having with many older games offered on GOG...I guess there just isn't any incentive to update older games to run on newer hardware. That is not surprising but just something to keep in mind.

Dead Space™

remembered it beign a good game

I played this years ago on the xbox. Thought I could relive those days but this simply does not run on modern PC hardware - crashes immediately upon startup. Have tried every fix listed on the support page and still nothing. Will update review if I get it to run, but for the time being it's no dice.

EVERSPACE™ Deluxe Edition Upgrade

Not exactly worth the price

I absolutely love EVERSPACE and so I decided to get the upgrade (discounted at the time to $4). Ok so the wallpapers are not particularly background worthy except for the one of the ringed planet which I currently have set as my background. The rest are just not that cool although I guess thats a matter of pure personal preference but honestly the wallpapers themselves are not that much cooler than you just running the game at 4k and taking some screenshots yourself. I did enjoy the artbook and I really wish they put that kind of artistic rendering into the 4k wallpapers but sadly the wallpapers are essentially rendered from the game itself. The OST is cool in-game but I tried listening to just the stand-alone audio included with the upgrade and its just not something any music fan would find themselves listening to on a regular basis, even as background music for studying or something its just awkward/not the right genre of music for background unless you want to do homework and have some random suspense music kick on haha. Really, Id say this should either come included with the purchase or maybe be worth $2. So in short, if you really, really love this game buy this DLC just for the artbook when its on sale, otherswise its just not worth the price for most people.

SciFantastic

This is my second favorite game of all time after Soma. Seriously good game.

Stardew Valley

Good Game

Pros: * The best farming sim I've played on the PC * Same-sex marriage * Visually appealing classic bit-grahics gives a nostalgic feel * Decent music * Lots of in-game activities that go beyond just farming. * Adorable storyline and interesting character backgrounds to explore * Very stable game, little to no glitches Cons: * Limited NPC interaction, very limited dialogue options. NPCs talk at you, conversations not really possible. * Again, because dialogue is very limited in the game, romancing other NPCs consists almost entirely of giving them their favorite items * Game feels a bit brief compared to other sim games, you can essentially complete most of the game with only 90 hours of gameplay * GUI not fully optimized for gamepad controllers, IE movement of cursor with joystick type issues

SOMA

Amazing

This psychological thriller of a game is honestly one of the best in its class. It pulls from a few tried and true scifi and philosophical concepts but mixed togeather with its own originality. Overall I absolutely love this game, and am truly blessed to have played it. If you're a scifi geek obsessed with philosophical questions about existence and transhumanism and you like slower paced games where you piece together the story and can take your time to really savour the surroundings and story then this game is definetly for you. The only caveat perhaps is that this game has less options in terms of role play and is more of you going along with the ride.
