I'm fan of a board game for almost 20 years so can tell that digitalization is really 1 to 1, everything is exactly same like in physical board gime. Issues starts when You try to play with AI or online. It really seems like in most games AI rolls are just better, except cases when You use some spells or have characters letting You roll two dices, which may frustrate lot of people (but still, it is game of randomness, so no point to get frustrated). Online games are really, really slow, it is probably because of bad servers (tried on PC and consoles, it is the same), game speed and UI settings does not help much. Anyway, I really recommend to at least try base game, but with few expansions really shows it's wonders (Sacred Pool, Frosmarch, Dungeons and Hills at least)
You just have to try this game, You rather gonna love it or just not. Simplicity of mechanic, music, graphics and general simplicity and yet so many ways to play, ships, weapon configurations makes it worth trying for everyone, I get back to it every couple of years.
When you can learn some theory about machine learning, the closer You get to end of game the less it has to do with machine learning and and become more and more simple puzzle game about building sorting algorithm from available blocks also introduces some bugs.
