which is baffling, because everything here works great; cute presentation, fast puzzle-like search and rescue (pro-tip: you're supposed to find the survivor and escape, NOT put out all the fires), fun soundtrack, but it's so obnoxiously unforgiving it literally feels like the devs sabotaged it on purpose. I don't get it. avoid.

if, like me, you're retired and an old school NASA geek, I guarantee you'll find this industrial space work sim addictive and deeply satisfying. one recommendation, tho- skip the soundtrack (it's a little lightweight and gets repetitive) and put on some blues in the background.

similar to Stars In Shadow, most of the creative energy here seems to have gone into the design aesthetic and writing, and not so much into the gameplay, which is tedious, difficult and ultimately kind of bland. there's just better choices out there for this kind of tactics game.

more like an action board game w/some light tactics, but that doesn't mean the combat doesn't get challenging... it's just more about picking the right items or powerups to use and using your movement points to get out of the way of enemy attacks (as the game doesn't use defensive posture but does use flanking and back attacks for extra damage). the fun is building up your base and upgrading items, getting survivors to join you and uncovering the story. it's light, but quite fun and atmospheric.

20 hrs in and I love it, enthusiastic recommend, esp. for old school fans of this kind of game. there's a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get the jist of the character classes and vibe of the gameplay, this is a great take on the genre, full of cyberpunk atmosphere and piles of loot. recommended level on missions is no joke as med kits are in short supply and powering up your cyberdeck often is a good idea. I love that you can check your rep. at a phone booth and call up your patrons for favors, or just to talk. great stuff.

sunk plenty of hours into this, great casual strategy title. looking forward to more dlc. if it had a little more in the way of bells and whistles during the off week activities (like the little cutscenes in the old monster ranchers games), it'd be perfect.
