I played it just recently and the performance was excellent. Overall very enjoyable and immersive experience! The music was so great, I even ended up listening to the soundtrack over and over on Amazon Music. The puzzles are very intuitive. I played it in Spanish to help me improve my Spanish a little bit. The voice-over actors did a great job. After finishing the game I watched the replay on Youtube in French and the French voice-over is very decent too! Pendulo Studios is remaining one of my favorite adventure game developers. Thank you guys! And an additional thanks for releasing the MacOS version :)
Like some many reviewers mentioned - the controls are frustrating. Sometimes you have to repeat the scene all over again many many times. For example, the place where you have to run on the table where "bad guys" are eating and avoid being caught. Well, I know what to do, but I am still caught over over again. And then you jump and miss the grid by a fraction of an inch and you fall. It's not fun anymore! It would be so awesome if they could add an "easy" difficulty level - where you can run a little bit faster. The controls would require less precision. And/or there would be more places to hide. It literally took me 2 years to finish this extremely beautiful game.
The first game was a little bit more interesting for me to play, but this one is very good too. I agree with the other review that 3d object viewer was a bad decision. Some people complain about the bugs. I had only two minor ones: - in the hotel (after the airplane) John was sliding on the floor without moving his body - pretty cool :) - I lost 6 minutes of progress after speaking with the boy I was supposed to rescue - had to talk to him again. The rest of the game, including the cut scenes, was a smooth experience. All in all solid story and engaging gameplay. On the day one of release (on Steam) I think the price was at least twice as high as it is now. I am glad this game made it here, DRM-free. Thank you, GOG!
I waited for a very long time for this game to come on GOG. And it was a real please to play it DRM-free. The game is very well written. It's a like a good detective story - giving you a little piece of information at a time to keep you constantly interested. Really good pacing. Dark humor is also very good. My only complain was that when you click objects, the main character doesn't comment anything out loud (no voiceover). I kinda love such comments in point-and-click adventure games. 5/5. Definitely worth the full price.
I bought this during the summer sale. And I am very pleased with this purchase. Of course, it's not Beatles or Oscar Peterson, but for a game soundtrack it's a very good music actually. It seems that Spearhead Games hired a small studio called Vibe Avenue to create this soundtrack. I think these guys are talented. Anyway, it will be in my top 10 soundtracks here on GOG.
