I dont know. I found it pretty boring. First off there's no interesting races to choose. Just your run of the mill human, elf, dark elf(which they call something else), dwarf and then basically just a human barbarian race...that has little tusks.... like a poor man's orc i guess? I mean whats the point of even making a unique race if it's just gonna be a human with little horns coming out of thier cheeks? It might be cool even if they had big cool looking tusks.. but no... just tiny little protrusions.. and no cool looking portraits. For the game itself, you start in a courtyard, talk to some lady, go into a castle, have to run around and check a bunch of chests to find "your gear", which is just basic gear.. not sure why you didn't just start with it in your inventory.? And then you have to serve a bunch of stuck up rich people drinks.. and guess what kind of drink they ordered.. i guess? Then a bunch of dudes storm the castle and start killing everyone, ... so you just move the mouse cursor over them and click.. and kill them, until this other rich dude tells you to fetch his sword, which is just sitting in a room a mere ten feet away... when you go and fetch it like a good little slave he locks you in the room, and the bad guys then kill everyone....... including him.. by the hand of his own son?. And then some kind of witch lady voice says something in your head and you fall over and pass out. wake up in a room with her and she tells you to "rest", and then you're supposed to activate the "resting' mechanic.. I dont know. I stopped playing after that. Just kind of dissappointing. No innovation. Same old same old.
WOW. This is what a remaster should be!. It's like an entirely new game. The graphics are all updated, the lighting is amazing. Some of the textures are brand new i think. It just looks fantastic. The controls are great too. I just plugged in my xbox controller and played. No need to change any controls, just plug and play. It runs flawlessly. Has acheivements. Just all in all a perfect 10. If you're a fan of this game of old, its totally worth 20 bucks. Just play it for 5 mins, and you instantly see how many improvements they've done to this old gem.
Personally i couldn't really get into Darkest Dungeon. I found the rng a little too unpredictable. But this game... i instantly got hooked. It has so many more mechanics and extra little management things you can do., and you create your own troops!.. like a mad scientist out of gruesome body parts! Whats not to like about that? The voice of the man who did Caleb in the Blood series is back, and his voice is just as good as ever. In a way this game kinda reminds me of Dungeon Keeper. Being bad is always good. Like i said, i'm normally not a big fan of games like this, but this one does it right. It's perfect. I'm hopelessly addicted. The learning curve is much easier in this one compared to DD, but it's still just as challenging. Although not as punishing. If you've leveled up one of your undead troops, and spent hours refining his/her skills,... and then suddenly they die in a blaze of glory... no problem.. you can get a "brain" that's roughly the same level, insert it in a new troop, and put back all those abilities and stats right back in. Jump right back in the game... No grinding needed.
First thing to say about this one is the music and sound effects. Top tier! So great. When you slash a wee goblin down with your 2 handed sword, axe or hammer it really feels like it. The sounds sell it. And the music is just straight up always enjoyable. The graphics are great too, and still hold up today in my opinion. I don't even usually like Diablo type games, but i've found myself loving this one. Been looking at it for a while now, glad i finally picked it up. It's a good one. Really easy to jump into. Finishing quests is easy, just look it up on your map. Having loads of fun with this one.
The only reason i'm not giving it 5 stars is because the loading times are pretty brutal... although, the maps are huge, and packed with powerups, pedestrians, tokens, secrets, ramps and loop dee loops..etc etc... One could spend hours just exploring. So perhaps this is why. As for the driving mechanics., I think it's even better than previous Carmageddons. Yep, i said that. And i've been playing Carmageddon allll my life, still play the old ones today too. It's NOT a racing game. The handling is supposed to feel like that. Believe it or not, this is realistic.. for suped up tank cars flying down city streets at breakneck speeds running over curbs, car parts and pedestrians.. what did you expect? I find the driving perfect. It is so much easier than the previous games. What is the problem here? No idea. I can drive the crap out of this game with near perfect handling. I stress again. NOT a racing game. Think more like a demolition derby game. Drive it like a real car. If you start going into a skid... take your foot off the pedal. Easy. The graphics look beautiful on my 3000whatever resolution, 4k screen. Even at low settings. I'm kind of baffled why everyone seems to hate this game. I adore it. A fine successor to the franchise. The only bad point i can make is the loading times. A bit long, but whatever. I have so much fun with this. And at reg. 18bucks or whatever, (i got it on sale for like 4bucks) how can you go wrong?
It's an ok game, in itself. Pretty simplistic, but fun. Although, the one thing that really confuses me,... is what in the world did they do to the races?>?... Dwarves look like the Blue man group became body builders.... Elves look like ...uh... goblins?... and that other thing... I guess that's supposed to replace Hobbits?... I mean, they give you 5 different types of human.. (that all look the same btw) and then 3 strange alien races. With only 1 portrait each. I'm not saying i don't dig the creativity. Normally I love crazy strange races in a game. But I thought this game was supposed to be a successor to A Bard's Tale?... If you watch the making of videos, there's one in which they explain how they took the original intro scene, (with a bard playing to a rag tag group of dwarves and hobbits) and painstakingly recreated every detail of it, building an entire set, hiring actors, and producing costumes.. . just for a 2 min intro scene. ....But then when you play the game.. where are the dwarves..elves,,, hobbits? They look totally ridiculous. Like i said the game is ok. Just not really a Bards tale game.

It's pretty good. A little slow at first, I was worried it was gonna suck, but it's a decent game for 22 bones. Not as deep and strategic as more classic tactic games, perhaps a little kid friendly, but that's to be expected with a Jim Henson series. All in all, it's a fun little tromp through the Dark Crystal universe, although, I was hoping they would expand upon the universe a little more. So far it's followed the plot of the series to a T... So if you haven't watched the Netflix series yet, this will kinda spoil the story for you. I think it's worth the humble amount of moohlah they're asking if you're a fan
