Let’s Kick Some Brain!

Oh, snap! The evil Harry the Harrier wants to use his alien Brain Blobs to zombify dinosaurs and bring them into our present timeline to take over the world. Looks like all hope is lost, and humanity is doomed...

...NOT!!!

Harry didn’t count on Dexter the Dinodroid slipping away with a time machine. Now this totally radical dino dude with a ‘tude has gone old school — like, 200 million years ago old school. Travel around with Dexter in his time machine and get the 4-1-1 on those dinosaurs to find them before the Brain Blobs show up to turn them into zombies!

This FMV educational adventure from Philips Interactive Media, Inc. is a sweet slice of 90s nostalgia. Search grid-based maps for clues to help you find each dinosaur using all kinds of dino facts you find along the way. Use the Grunt-O-Meter to send Dexter out to a location, and he’ll report back what he sees to you. Gather enough hints from Dexter about each dinosaur’s morphology, behavior, and habitat, and you’ll know exactly where to find each one. Harry the Harrier thinks he’s all that and a bag of chips, but he’ll have to take a chill pill when he sees how good you and Dexter are at tracking down dinosaurs before they can be zombified! Booyah!!!

  • Fully voiced and acted FMV scenes bring the game’s zany characters to life, featuring Cam Clarke (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fire Emblem Fates) as Dexter
  • Travel to the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods to learn about dinosaurs — or at least what we thought we knew about dinosaurs circa 1992
  • Fire up the title screen and treat your ears to one of the raddest video game theme songs ever made

cheesy 90s fmv + dinosaurs = win

I've never heard of this game until recently, but I think it's a lot of fun. kinda like a roguelike with dinos and cheesy fmv, major plus in my book (the roguelike aspect not so much). gotta learn about the dinos from the encyclopedia (voiced but no subtitles or any written info in the entire game), then travel to one of 3 periods, gather clues, find the dino in danger and save them. do it 3 times for a win, 3 failures lead to a game over. short runs with a timer based on actions, not actual time (24 hours, moving a cell on the map is half an hour, running into quicksand takes away more, etc.). not sure if maps/dinos/clues are randomized or not, the overworld map is the same in all 3 time periods, but you can only find certain dinos in certain periods. the theme song is awesome, exactly what you'd expect from a game like this. the quickstart pdf provided by the current publisher is fairly useful (except for the part where it says the game doesn't use the mouse, as it's completely mouse-driven), but do yourself a favor and mount the .iso (cd image) in the install folder and find the actual 16-page manual with all the dino infos, etc. much more convenient than learning all of it from the game. definitely recommended for dino/cheese lovers, it's a hidden gem, if not entirely polished. (the mouse cursor is a bit off, needs some getting used to until you can avoid misclicks, might be because of windowed dosbox or something on my end.)

A Bizarre But Fun Educational Game

Believe it or not Zombie Dinos From Planet Zeltoid is actually an educational game that uses it's bizarre premise as a means to teach people about dinosaurs. The combination of the cheesy FMVs, the premise, and the cheap price makes the game worth it in my opinion. That said the mouse cursor is a little off so keep that in mind. I have made a first impressions video for those who want to see this game in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy1JBqzhLOY

Good, Cheesy 90's Fun.

What a blast; we had great fun playing through this one. It's a tad confusing, but after our first go-around, we had just about figured out what we were doing. It's an educational game for children; we had visited the museum in-between play sessions, to get a little extra edge over this one - the excitement to learn dinosaur facts was palpable. If you, or anybody you know is willing to endure (or perhaps, even, enoys!!) some cheesy, silly dialogue, and loves dinosaurs, puppets, and a bit of stage makeup - it's well worth your time.
