Crossing Souls

Roughly 1hr into the demo

I'm currently playing chapter one of the demo. I love the artwork, cutscenes, pixelart, music, sound design and I could imagine that people who downvote the game are probably just too young and thus fail to appreciate the love that has gone into this great 80s hommage. Honestly, I have no idea what kind of game this will be. So far, I it feels to me a little bit like an action RPG kind of game where you discover lots of different locations walking around in your hometown, talking to and helping people solving issues and getting your crew/group of friends together. Each of the (what I think is the) protagonist's friends is an unlockable character that you can switch between anytime. Everyone of the playable characters has got different and special abilities - the main character has got climbing abilities and a bat which he can use to destroy things or beat up rivaling "gangs". Then there's one nerdy guy with some kind of futuristic gun and hovering shoes that let him glide over bigger distances. And a little corpulent guy who's the strongest of all, which can drag boxes around but is unable to jump. And then there's this other guy on a BMX bike that I'm still purchasing. Everything looks and feels very promising so far and I am looking forward to seeing the direction this game is gonna take. I'm hoping for challenging puzzles and a rich experience. It'd be a pity if it failed in providing the latter, given the love in detail that must have been spent into its development! Altogether, if you're from the 80s, had any/some 1st/2nd gen gaming consoles, like pixel art and love any of its great TV series and adventure movies in particular, you will most probably like this game a lot and any of the bad criticism here will bring you in doubt unnecessarily. Having had the pleasure to have lived in the 80s, these are my 2 cents. Enjoy this game!
