First, I have this game and the other two Combat Mission 1 games running fine on a Windows 10 machine....No issues at all. These games revolutionized wargaming in my opinion. The original combat mission actually started life as "computer" Squad Leader, but was dropped as Avalon Hill was having business problems. The developers luckily continued work and released it anyway. This game was the second game released. I think my favorite aspect of the game is the robust scenario editor and battle generator. Makes the game infinitely replayable. At the writing of this review (1-4-2025), I am still playing this game over 20 years later. I'm glad GOG has kept these titles alive.
One of the classic open world rpgs. No more needs to be said anout the Elder Scrolls franchise.
Field of Glory captures the feel of tabletop miniatures with a very approachable interface. With the DLC, virtually any engagement during the middle ages can be recreated. It has infinite replayability. As a long time wargamer, I highly recommend this game and its DLC.
I've been waiting for GOG to release this one for years. I'm so glad they did. This game is one of the most comprehensive war games of an era that does not get covered enough. It very easy to get into as far as the interface which is surprising for it's age. The game covers a broad range of conflicts and also has an editor to make your own battle and a "skirmish" mode to easily generate a battle in one of two clicks. Game runs flawlessly on my Windows 10 system. If you're a wargamer, please do not hesitate to pick this one up.
I've been waiting for this game to come out on GOG since I first joined here years ago. This is what GOG is all about. Many people had trouble running this game on a modern machine. Well, I can tell you that this game runs perfectly on my Windows 10 rig. As far as the game goes, I always felt that this was one of the most innovative games of the Generals series. It is definitely worth $6. Just buy it.
