*Note I have not played story mode. I played this while it was InDev and I still play it now. Survival aspects are great. Some realism mixed with game world mechanics to add difficulty. From a survival aspect, this game does things really well. It's great not to have another survival game based around zombies. This one puts you against mother nature and the difficulty of solitude. Basic needs are here food, water, shelter. Every day you need to decide where to go and what you need to focus on. Once you bundle up your carry capacity goes down. Do you need to go fishing, hunting, look for more abandoned buildings, gather wood, etc? Without a plan you're sure to die. Also watch out for those wolves. Wolves is where they embellish things for game play. While in the real world they aren't aggressive attackers but in the game they are. It's really the only animal you need to fear, especially if you're carrying raw fish or animal parts. When it comes to atmosphere. The game is really nice. You feel like you're on a hiking trip. It's very peaceful and serene. It lulls you into thinking things are going to be just fine. Then you realize you're freezing because you've been outside too long. It comes close to how you actually try to survive in the wilderness. Which I really like about this game. As strange as it sounds it's such a peaceful survival game that I play it to relax after a stressful day/week. But then again I'm very introverted and love being out in the wilderness.
