Bastion

This was a lot of fun

This game was really well executed. I had a lot of fun during my playthrough. There was enough variety for it to not get old super fast. Had enough of a challenge to not be boring. Good story, fun mechanics. Definitely buy it and play it if it's on sale

Dragon Age™: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Bioware, how good you were

I think it was after this game that Bioware started having some issues. This game sits in the top 5 of my list of all-time favorites, easily. Bioware was a gold making machine back in these days. I couldn't get enough of it, and I'm just sad that we never got something that quite matched this in the Dragon Age universe. The story was deep. The characters were memorable. The gameplay was incredible. The skill trees were great. Really, honestly, a 10/10. The best in the series and one of my favorite pieces of video game history. I've played and replayed this game, and I absolute adore it still. <3

Unreal Tournament 2004 Editor's Choice Edition

This is the GOAT

Was it the first? No. Doom was probably the first there Was it the most innovative? Probably not. Quake probably has it beat there Did it stand out? Hell yeah This is the best arena shooter of all time. Don't @ me. Yeah there was Doom and Wolfenstein and Quake and Halo and Golden Eye and blah blah blah. This is the pinnacle of the category. Every game before built up to UT 2004, and every game since has been trying to match it. Brutal, fast paced, non-stop, adrenaline pumping action GODLIKE

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

First Impressions Are Everything

This game was an eye opener for me. What an introduction to an amazing world. Yeah it was a bit buggy. Yeah it ran poorly, but my, my, my did it make up for it with everything else. Obviously this has spawned a universe that I don't think anyone could quite imagine at the time. CDPR really struck gold with this. As with most older games, if you choose to play it, just know what you're getting into. It's not going to look that great; it'll probably have some weird bugs; It'll probably feel slightly clunky, but if you can get past that, you'll be in for a real treat. Buckle in and experience the game that launched one of the greatest RPG series of all time.

Jade Empire: Special Edition

Review based off of my first playthrough

This is peak Bioware. You remember peak Bioware, right? Back when they made the most amazing games imaginable. The games that transported you to a new place and a new time and introduced characters and enemies and settings that you're still thinking about 10+ years later? Where did peak Bioware go? Please bring them back, k? Anyway, I loved this game. It filled the hole that KOTOR left pretty nicely for the time. It was an interesting game with interesting lore, fun enemies, and fun companions. The port isn't as good as the original Xbox release was, but I still love this game. The mini games were kinda fun, and I played through it with different moralities multiple times. Basically: If you love KOTOR, you'll love this.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

Just know what you're getting into

I don't think there's anything to say that hasn't already been said. When I first played this game ~16 years ago, it was a buggy nightmare that I couldn't pull myself away from. The combat is clunky, some of the mechanics suck royally, but man the story. This is absolutely the best Vampire media I've ever consumed. I was always a fan of vampire stories, but there was never anything that made you feel like you *knew* what it was like to be a vampire. This changed that. This was my Jedi Academy: Jedi Outcast. That game was the first game that really, really made me feel like I knew what it was like to wield the power of the Force. This game made me feel like I really got into the role. Absolutely impeccable. I leave this review 16 years later in anticipation of the new one (please, please, please, please Paradox, don't **** it up), and I think back to the good times I spent playing this. I love this game so much, but I've tried replaying it a few times in recent years, and it's just so clunky that it's hard to get into. Keep that in mind if you're wanting to pick this up fresh. In my mind, it's not held up as well as titles like KOTOR from a mechanics and gameplay perspective. If you're good at ignoring little quirks like bad graphics, wonky animations, and sometimes bad gameplay mechanics, please pick this up. If I reviewed this when I first played it, it's an easy 5 stars all day every day. Now, since it's definitely showing its age, I'll give it a 4.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

Start here

I just left a review for Shadowrun Hong Kong 3 years after I played it. To be honest, I forgot how good these games were till I went and left that review. I'm probably going to replay them all now just because I'm craving a good RPG. I can't say much more than what I said in my Hong Kong review, except: This one is better. If you go read my review there, take everything I said, apply here, and assume that this is better. If I could give this 6 stars, I would

Shadowrun Hong Kong - Extended Edition

Please, please, please, please play this

I think this is my favorite RPG from the last 10 years. I just left a review saying that I constantly look for something that'll fill the gap that KOTOR and Jade Empire left. This isn't quite that, but I'll be damned if it's not a whole hell of a lot of turn based fun. This game is the game that made me fall in love with tactical, turn-based games. The story is fantastic. The setting is fantastic. I don't really know what else to say. This is cyberpunk fantasy. If you like cyberpunk or fantasy, buy this. If you don't like cyberpunk or fantasy, buy this. Seriously, please play this

West of Loathing

I love these guys

I love Kingdom of Loathing. I played a lot of Kingdom of Loathing way back in the day. I thought I would love this. I kinda did. Kinda... I think I'm just too old and this game is too much "of the age" for me to get really into it. I think they nailed it, and I love their work. I'm absolutely pleased as punch to own the game, but I just couldn't get into it like I did with Kingdom of Loathing.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition

Plz don't hate me

As a self-proclaimed RPG lover, I want to love this game. I really, really do. I try constantly to find a game to fill the gap that KOTOR, Dragon Age: Origins, and Jade Empire left. I can't quite seem to do it. Divinity is one of the games that I hoped would be able to. I've taken two or three good whacks at the game with varying results. Most the time, I don't get off the prison island because I just get so overwhelmed by the open endedness of it all. The combat is brutal, the lore is deep, the mechanics are pretty complicated. The story is great, the choices mean something, and these are all incredible things. Unfortunately, for me, this game feels like work to play. I have to constantly remember all the things that I need to. I have to plan my combat meticulously. I have to be very, very careful not to wander into an area where I'm going to get absolutely stomped on because I might lose 2 hours of gameplay if I do. I tried playing with a friend as well. While I get the concept and I feel like it could lead to amazing adventures, I just wish there were a simpler way to manage it. I love the idea, but I think I'm just too smooth brained to get it. I give it 3 stars because the game is so well done. It's the perfect open world RPG, but I just think it's too open for me. Sometimes I need to be put in a really roomy cage
