Ive bought this and Heavy Rain during one of steam sales. Despite clunky controls and other issues Ive managed to complete Heavy Rain before proceeding to start Beyong2Souls and it just didnt work for me. At least controls were a bit better than in Heavy Rain, but overall...I just didnt want to play this game. It felt as if it had even less gameplay than HR. If you want to play story game with minimal gameplay - just grab What Remains of Edith Finch. And if you really want to try David Cage games, well just wait for sale and see for yourself if you like it.
I already have completed this on steam and Ive got to say its an amazing experience. Beginning may feel a little bit clunky, but once you get used to it you are ready to explore open worlds of the game. Also combat gets better as you progress and improve your abilities.. Story is serious but side activities are for most part just light hearted fun. Miracle Johnson and diaper man are well known by now. Out of the 3 yakuza games I played this is my favorite one followed by Kiwami2 and Kiwami1. If you are unsure if you gonna like them just grab Yakuza 0 on sale and give it a try. BTW it plays better with a controller
I was really eager to try this game and...its disappointing. The only good thing about it is the graphics. Unit AI is atrocious, as is combat itself - how come 20 of my soldiers struggle with killing 1 enemy spearman (not even special unit/ hero - just regular spearman without a shield). Looks like early Assasins Creed games where enemies just took turns attacking you allowing for riposte instakill on every one of them. 1st viking campaign is alright. Playing Mieszko I campaign now and isnt it lovely when enemy can spawn 5 units before you actually finish setting barracks on fire ? at least skirmish mode is okayish, but extremely repetetive. Hopefully developers put more thought into their next project -they are talented enough to make much more enjoyable game.
I like the world, quests, dialogues etc are all ok. Certain combat scenarios are unfortunately awful due to clunky controls/ weird camera/ unresponsivness - you want to run asap away from enemy to attack with ranged weapon ? get ready to start your great escape with weird dodge move - want to use healing potion ? spam that hot key like a maniac because pressing it only 92 times is not enough. Not every combat encounter is bad - only those where you dont have companions (only then camera zooms out for no good reason at all). Overall its a good game, but not at full price, just get it on sale or play on GamePass for PC.
but nothing special. Locations are beautiful, but everything is very linear and scripted. Animations are rather poor. Main hero, Amicia, moves like 90 yo grandma. Game starts well, but quickly descends from gripping - yet simple - stealth adventure to button juggling nonsense. Asobo, maybe add gameplay to your next game. Could help you know
After seeing people praise this game to heaven on reddit etc I picked it up and...its ok. Nothing more. Story is ok, but nothing special. Open world is totally pointless. Save game system is god awful and mission 14 can suck a donkey. Still, if on sale its worth a shot - just dont expect too much.
