The art style is something that hearkens back to the days of low polygon count 3D gaming, but still feels fresh and sharp. Gameplay is solid and doesn't suffer from any bugs or glitches. The early parts of the game will hold your hand to show you how everything works, but then quickly opens up to exploreable expanses. However, the gamepad controls are somewhat janky. Keyboard and mouse are your friends with this game, a gamepad controller is not. Once you try playing the game with each, you'll know what I mean. The storyline(no spoilers) is very interesting and not your typical cliche fodder. It can rope you in. The voice acting is a bit on the lacking side, but isn't terrible or super cheesy. If it annoys you, thankfully, you can turn them off in the audio settings. All in all, a great romp and worth the price of admission!
Without offering spoilers, the experience this game title offers will grant a great time to those who remember the golden years of the 16bit era and a fun adventure to anyone who want a modern take on what classic gaming was like. The gameplay is solid, the controls smooth and easy to understand, the storyline interesting(if a tad cliche), the graphics very well done and the music beautiful & atmospheric. This game is an exceptional remake of the 16bit Super Famicom title YS4 - Mask of the Sun. That 16bit era title never saw release outside Japan except for a fan translation, which I played and greatly enjoyed! This remake takes all of what was good about that game and made it better. All the storyline elements are present and expanded upon faithfully. The gameplay elements are also faithful to the original and really capture the feel of the 16bit title and yet more is added in which make the experience a little more interesting. None of the extras are required, but do add a measure of enjoyment to the overall experience! Most of the world has never seen the original, but those of you who have, you will enjoy it! For those who have not, You're in for a great time! Buy and enjoy!

These folks were aiming to recreate the feel of JRPG style games from the 16bit era and they have nailed it! This was a wonderful adventure with a great storyline, solid gameplay and an enchanting soundtrack! Without spoilers, the ending had a great finish, yet they left the end open for sequel and I certainly hope they make one! Bravo! If you're a fan of how good games once were, or are a younger player seeking to experience something with the retro vibe, buy this one fellow GOG citizens! Money well spent!
