This game harkens back to the 8bit & 16bit era of gaming with all the quality and flare one would expect from a Quintet/Enix ActionRPG. The controls seem spot-on, the story pulls you in and, well, I can't say more without spoilers. If you loved the SoulBlazer Series from Quintet/Enix or the Mana games from SquareSoft, this is a game you want to play! ActionRPG lovers rejoice! Buy, download, install and enjoy! PS, gamepad controller is a must!
Been waiting for this to come to GOG for a while.. Better late than never, right?! I will echo the sentiments stated by others: This is an exceptional entry into the Doom series! One can't go wrong with this game. The controls are as exact and customizable as one would expect and the GFX, sound & world design are top tier! As of the writing of this review, this game is 8 years old, but if you didn't know that fact, you could be forgiven for thinking is a recent title. It's held up and aged that well! There is enough challenge to test your metal, but not so very much that it will be an unforgiving beat-down. You will have make decent effort to progress through the game, yet you will find a way if you persist! My single complaint is the install size(60+GB). However, when we look at the complexity of the visuals, it is not difficult to understand how much space it took. Still, compression could have been used to good effect here. This is a minor complaint and does not detract from the experience of this masterful game. Just a heads-up if you're short on storage space. Buy it, download, install, play, rock on!!
This game is great! The controls are tight and dialed in, the music fits the part of the game, the visuals are beautiful and the story telling is very good. The dialogue can be a bit odd at times but nothing beyond easy understanding. My only complaint is that the game seems a bit terse. It gets into a flow and then you realize the end is coming up. For a novice/casual gamer, you should expect to spend about 10 to 11 hours to get through it. For expert/veteran gamers, the estimated 6 to 7 hours is about right. Overall, a great game and wonderful experience! Worth the price of admission even at full price! Buy it, download it, install it, enjoy!!
Bzzzt is an adventure that calls to the glory days of the NES with any of the MegaMan titles as well as a few other great side-scroll platformers from the 8bit & 16bit era! I'm not a spoilers person so I'll just say that if you loved and miss the glory of the days of 8bit & 16bit challenge, you will be delighted with this game! For anyone who never got to experience the times of the NES, this is a modern take on the feel and adventure of the games of those times. The graphics are well done but still have that "retro" feel to them(though a bilinear/trilinear filter in the options would not go amiss @Devs). The sound is also very well done, but is a bit more modern than what was found in the 8bit & 16bit times. The story is an interesting take in a classic set of ideas and will keep you interested. The controls are very exacting and precise. The challenge is something to behold. On "Easy", the experience will be enjoyable for most casual players, "Normal" will give an experience on par with many of the sidescroll types of the 8bit & 16bit era and "Hard" is a VERY challenging grind fest. There is something for everyone here. I don't mind admitting that I found myself going to Easy as I wanted to enjoy the flow of experience. There are those out there that will love the the punishing challenge of the "Hard" difficulties. YMMV. All in all, this is a wonderful title that seems to have been well thought out and carefully crafted with attention to detail! Brilliant game! You can't go wrong with this one!
This game is a love letter to fans of the TV series! It is well thought out and intentionally difficult & dark to emulate the universe it portrays. That said, it isn't perfect. The UI needed some more polishing & refinement and the gameplay is the same. While there is no glitchiness or bugs to be found, it's just a bit on the molasses-in-January side of things. The game looks pretty and the GFX are very well done. As shown by the spec requirements, you don't need a beast of a system to run it, even on best settings. If you're a fan of the TV series and have patience, this is a great Strategy RTS! If you want something faster paced, this might not be your jam. I love the game and the experience was fun! Yet being objective, I have to say it might not be for everyone.
