Probably my favorite game. The best open world RPG game against which all other games of its kind are judged - Bethesda'a masterpiece. I've been playing this game since its release and can tell you that this GOG version is the smoothest, non-glitched and non-bugged version yet, vanilla and modded. Using Nexus mods further brings this game to life by adding any type of customizition you can dream of. No need to use Steam's buggy workshop and Bethesda's $$$$ "Creative Club" as Nexus mods are fully compatible with this GOG's version, as well. If, for some reason, you have not played this game, what are you waiting for? This DRM-free version lets you OWN it and keep it.
A huge world that is so artiscally well designed that it blends in seamlessly with the main game. It's the world of Fallout, with all the heaps of destroyed buildings and unscrappable trash, but, in London. There are opposing factions, companions, and, an arsenal of new and unique items and weapons to keep you enthralled for dozens of hours. A completely genuine and reimagined post-apocalyptic London is open for discovery! Now, as far as gameplay issues are concerned, I did have some crashes, but, updates did correct them, for the most part. I ended up moving on from the game mid-crisis so I haven't seen the latest patches but, at the end, most, if not all of my issues, had been resolved. Keep in mind that this has been out for a while now and there is plenty of help available, should you run into trouble. I found the main support page immensely helpful. Bottom line: if you love Fallout, you will enjoy this add-on!
I could write about the graphics still being even better than some new releases, or, how fluid the gameplay is; I could write about how the sound effects force you into the moment and make your hair stand on end, and, how the music just attacks you, sounding like it's right out of the movie. This game is a continuation of that experience, ensuring that the first Alien movie didn't end with Ellen Ripley escaping the Nostromo by the skin of her undies with Jonsey, the cat. But, no. A deep story and Sevastopol station, the stage for Alien: Isolation - became a living and breathing entity on it's own - making me wish I had been aboard during it's better days, is what made me love this game. Amanda Ripley, the protagonist of Alien: Isolation and daughter of Ellen Ripley from the movies, was a child when her mother failed to return home after encountering the alien on a routine deep space mining haul. Now, an engineer, she heads to Sevastopol station in hopes of finding a clue to her mother's whereabouts, and, the Nostromo flight recorder. You can explore every inch of the abandoned station and unlock it's secrets in the form of logs and computer entries left behind by the inhabitants. Hack terminals and doors to find collectibles and movie lore, expanding the Alien universe and clues to the disaster on the Nostromo. I'm writing this review after my fourth playthrough, and, before beginning my fifth. See you on Sevastopol
"First-person" turn-based gameplay as opposed to third-person or top-down. I am, personally, not a fan of turn-based tactics so did not play this for long. The game looks nicely done, however. I do like the art style and playability of this game, but, it is still turn-based. If you like that then you will undoubtedly enjoy this game. I prefer using a controller these days so that was an obstacle as the game is not exactly suited for it, in spite of allegedly being compatible. The keyboard/mouse work perfectly well.
The best part of this game for me is that it works with a controller! The resolution can be played at 1080p which looks great for the age of this game. I am not disappointed and am so glad I finally installed it. It was in my library for while because I was hesitant to play it due to some of the negative comments. I should know better by now.
I used to like the series - both TWD and FTWD - but they always managed to trash it somehow. Maybe they should have pulled the writers from this game to work on the show? Anyway, great game. I'm not keen on the cartoonization animation in games but it adheres to the comic book vibe better that way. The "Definitive" series for this sale price is a crazy good deal. Thank you GOG!!
I first played this at release when it was called "Shadows of Amn" and the original box set came with 5 discs and a paperback manual. This is obviously the better deal. I've been a fan of GOG ever since I found the Baldur's Gate series here a few years ago and play it every once in a while. A riveting story experience and beautiful environmental art. I wish I could rxperience it for the first time again.
You wake up on an alien planet and your crew is gone. It seems they ventured outside the ship without you. Follow their trail and find out what's become of them... Solid gameplay, easy-to-use weapon/ammo switching, graphics are actually better in-game than in the first trailer. I think it's just an early footage teaser trailer because even the character models are improved in-game. I was glued to it from the first moment.
