This game got a lot of hate for diverging even further from what Saints Row used to be. It is much closer to Saints Row 4 (but as a semi-musical) than it is to Saints Row 2. The hate is understandable, but I think it's a fun game if you disregard the legacy it springs from. The issue is that it keeps crashing at random intervals. If you constantly go "I hope it doesn't crash," you can't enjoy it. I remember not having these issues, so I assume something changed between 2017 (when I last played it) and now. Right now, I have severe difficulty recommending it to anyone due to these crashes.

I liked playing through Blue Estate (another on-rails shooter) and remembered House of the Dead 3 fondly, so I decided to pick this up on sale. Here's my central frustration and why I quit: Enemy's can only be hit some of the time. If you see a corpse and you shot it, it won't do anything until the corpse becomes animated. If you shoot bosses during certain animations, it doesn't do anything. If you shoot an enemy before the game allows you to, you might as well shoot blanks. I presume the game is designed in this way for balance reasons, but it is beyond annoying when you empty a boat load of magazines into a boss and it doesn't do anything because the boss' animation was still playing.

The game keeps crashing whenever I enter the hostile zone roughly across from the police station. So far the remaster seems a lot more unstable than the original. I've updated my drivers, tried different graphical settings, etc. but nothing seems to work. Robocop also uses UE5, so I know it isn't engine related. Both Nvidia and AMD users on the Steam forum ran into crashes like this. The recommended "solution" so far is to downgrade your drivers, because newer drivers seem to break the game. I've just abandoned the game instead.
