Elroy and the Aliens

Likable Characters and Story Line

Liked the game and would like to see a second one. I would ask for a few more puzzles and continue the archaelogy sideline. Worth playing.

Verne: The Shape of Fantasy

Meh. Didn't liked timed sequences

I was not a big fan of this game. I didn't like that immediately upon start I was thrown into a timed sequence to escape. I didn't like the movement in the sub and didn't finish to the end as I don't like having to repeat sequences because I timed my movements wrong as I tried to get past guards. Just not my kind of game and bought it because Adventure Gamers site gave it 4 stars. IMO, it is not a 4 star game.

Justin Wack and the Big Time Hack

Fun Solid Adventure Game

Good story and I liked the various time settings. I love the nod to Day of the Tentacle (one of my all-time favorites) as well as tributes to other games. The voice acting was perfect. Artwork was great. The puzzles were fun and I admit to the use of Daela a couple of times because I couldn't move forward. Once even Daela's clue wasn't enough and I had to go for a walkthru. If you like classic point and click games with puzzles that make you think, this is the one. Hoping for a sequel. Really worth playing!

Lighthouse: The Dark Being

My memories of its difficulty were valid

I remember playing this way back and thinking how difficult it was. I figured we were adventure game novices at the time and just didn't have the feel for the game logic. So here we are, years later, and I still think this game is unbelievably hard. In many instances I had no clue what to do or why. There were so many puzzles with no indications as to what to do (or I missed most of them). The game had some good moments and IMO could have been better with a few clues. I am not fan of 'try all options' and hope you eventually hit the right one. That is boring and frustrating. Glad I replayed it but will admit that many times I had to resort to either a video or text walkthrough.

The Inheritance of Crimson Manor

Great Game - Good puzzles

Good puzzles and story. I didn't find the puzzles too difficult. Strongly suggest as you play you keep track of the rooms and the unfinished puzzles in them. I started to do this fairly early on but still had several backtracking moments trying to find a puzzle that I now had the solution. I would definitely play another game like this by this company. Wishes for future games: Interactive map that you could pin puzzle notes and identify which rooms were still not open. Worth playing for sure.

The Samaritan Paradox

Odd Game but I liked it

The game is dated, yes. Some of the puzzles drove me to a walkthrough and at least one had a solution that I had never considered. The story within a story was an interesting addition. I got it on sale and I am glad I played it. The reviews I read were mixed but I gave it a go and would recommend if you like old fashioned P&C to give it a go if you catch it on sale. I think you will find the ending unusual.

Lacuna – A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure

Excellent Game

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I had steered clear of it because a review I read made me believe there were minigames involved that required quick responses. I don't care for that type of gameplay. Then Lacuna was on sale and I figured why not try it as the reviews had been good. Great decision. The story is well written and detailed. The method to collect and use data to solve various scenarios was great. Nothing is handed to you. While the "sheets" are not difficult you do have to pay attention, explore and read. The music was wonderful. Very atmospheric in that I felt I should slip into a jazz bar, have a bourbon and smoke a cigarette. I liked the art work and found the various city scenes as great background. Controls were simple and nothing required great dexterity. It has replayability as I missed some clues and did not get all the achievements. I highly recommend this if you want to feel immersed, want to do some thinking and a bit of reading and want to like the main character. I've already wishlisted the next game by Digi-Tales called Between Horizons. Well done!!

Sanitarium

Still Great

I played this game when it first came out and thought it was wonderful. Almost 25 years later it is still great to play. The storyline is imaginative and the puzzles are good. I admit to using a walkthru a couple of times. I did have a few times I had trouble navigating the character especially at the end game. However, it is nothing that ruins the game. If you like adventure games, this is for you. Excellent game play.

The Excavation of Hob's Barrow

Good atmosphere

Good old school graphic adventure. I enjoyed the game and the storyline. I ran into a couple of areas that required me to consult a walkthru but I attribute that to the gap in gameplay. I didn't play for about a week and lost the thread. I particularly enjoyed the barrow. Maybe because the graphics reminded me of The Fate of Atlantis. Worth playing for sure.

Sherlock Holmes Chapter One Deluxe Edition

Be Ready To Invest Hours

After I figured the game out and undestood the symbols, I did fine. At first I was not sure what to do. I chose to play without fighting although I tried it and was terrible. The cases are good. I liked the treasure hunts to be able to explore the island. Really a good game and only had one quirk but a reload corrected it. I look forward to the next Sherlock game. Highly recommend if you like to explore, like mysteries and collecting facts.
