The game evoked the same sense of childhood wonder that Costume Quest did for me, everything is big, magical and mysterious and yours to explore. Combat isnt especially challenging, but i feel like that fits perfectly here, as it would otherwise distract from the mood it's looking to create.
After enjoying the first hour or so, i came to a cutscene that requires some clicking while scanning with the echo eye, problem is the scan prompts did nothing, leaving me stuck. Reloaded the game and quickly discovered all cutscenes and dialogue is unskippable, after having sit through the talking again, the game then let me scan items this time, then played a cutscene that on the previous load - played before the scanning, out of order. Then it wouldnt react on the next scan prompt, leaving me stuck again. googling shows me that TTG's official solution is to try again and again and again, which i might have had patience for if not for the joyful combination of checkpoints and unskippable cutscenes/dialogue
Got goosebumps many times during the game, parts of it's story made me outright sad, pretty powerful stuff. They did a great job immersing you in the city and making it feel like a place, puzzles were in my opinion a bit light, but still decent. I like the interface for item interaction, works really smoothly with a mouse, makes it easy to explore your enviroments I have mixed feeling on the art direction for characters, some seem to be made in the "normal" style of dreamfall, while others are more caricatured, with slightly exagerated features or lines, giving them a look somewhere between Telltale games' walkingdead/wolf among us and Borderlands. I like the normal style more, but i guess this comes down to preference. The game was a joy to play and explore, looking forward to the next chapter.
