Be aware that this bundle allows only Conquest version of the game. You can play neither basic civ 3 nor Play the World expansion. This was huge disappointment to me as I'm not a fan of changes made by Conquest. Basically Conquest expansion added huge number of units and buildings without increasing the number of available technologies. As a result it doesn't matter much which technology you choose to develop next as it almost always will give you new unit(s) and new building(s) anyway. What I appreciated the most in civ 3 were choices and risks you made when deciding your research strategy. Especially in Middle Ages when you could basically go two ways (economic & research development or military). Another factor is that Conquest brings several additional wonders. Some of them are IMO game breaking as they produce military units at no cost whatsoever which totally breaks the balance. The game itself is of course awesome. Civ 3 is one of the best strategy games of all time. In my opinion second best in the series - after civ 4. Civ 4 has more depth, you need to keep more balance between all aspects, it also brings religions in. Civ 3 was more in your face with main focus on military. Which makes it different and still fun to play even after all those years. Especially that the game gives you good reasons to fight. On most of the maps strategic resources are limited so it makes sense to secure and monopolise them through military aggression. Next instances in the series failed a bit on that field. It is a shame that this version denies the "vanilla" Civ 3 from you. Especially that this is gog - the whole idea of this place is bringing those old original games back to life.
Very nice LEGO game with large variety of characters you can play and great sense of humor. The puzzles are neat, visuals are good - it has all that makes that kind of game fun. I think this was the first LEGO title with voice acting and it worked out great! There were several dialogs when I had to stop playing have a laugh and then come back to it. Overall this is one of the best LEGO titles. If you enjoyed any of them in the past there is huge chance you're going to like this one. If you haven't played any before this is a great place to start.
Unfortunately despite the good looks (mainly on screens though) this game is a total disappointment. I understand that the game was released in 1996 so can't have huge expectations but this title fails in almost every aspect. The main problem is the driving model. The only way I can describe is it feels like the road was a cardboard moving beneath your car and the car was pinned on a needle above that cardboard. You can influence the speed of the road "passing below" your car and you can move the needle round to turn right and left. In practice in means that when you're driving fast taking turns is incredibly snappy and rapid (which can be fun once you learn it) while when you're moving slowly you barely turn. This is important as your cart - in contrary to AI - has no acceleration. This is bad by itself however when you find yourself out of the road (which you'll often do) coming back on it takes ages (especially if you get off road on turning section). This is incredibly frustrating. Apart from that AI always get past the finish line in exactly same order as they start. This makes the race dull and makes winning the tournaments difficult. There are always four races so you need to win 3 of them and have to finish as 3rd or higher in the remaining one. There is huge screen tearing which makes difficult to tell what in front of you is actually a road; as you have no acceleration you practically always start as the last and the collision physics is awful. You also need to jump over different obstacles but the cardboard-needle mechanics makes jumping extremely unreliable. I hoped this game will be a nice arcade racing experience to me unfortunately I ended up utterly frustrated with it. I've seen some people compared it in their comments to Mario Kart - it's nothing like that. I wouldn't recommend in to anyone. If you haven't played and liked that game back in the day you shouldn't try it. If you did - don't try it either. It's better to keep the good memories. I do believe this game cold have it's fans in 1996 but it's one of those cases which got old very badly.
The main problem I have with this game is that you DON'T SOLVE ANYTHING. But let's start from the beginning. The general idea behind the game is intriguing, mechanics are a bit blunt (and unrealistic) yet work well. The "ending" (if you may say about ending in this game) is also what it should be like - I don't want to spoil so I say no more. The problem of this game is story itself. The background is bizarre and unrealistic while the main plot is too simple and obvious. THERE IS NO SECRET TO FIGURE OUT. It's all said in a straight way. Of course there is still some space left for interpretation but I hoped (and have been promised) to solve a crime case. What I got was a case that has been already solved by someone else and I just had to find right clips to reveal it.
