Zombie Shooting Star

Mindless Fun

Reminds me a bit of the types of games you'd get in the 6th and 7th gen of gaming, very silly and certainly not for everyone, but if you're a fan of budget games, like the ones by D3 Publisher, you might enjoy this one. Shooting feels alright, unfortunately as stated by another reviewer below the controls are not bindable, and the settings menu in general and it's options reminds me more of a console game or a mobile game, not a PC game, though personally i think the deafult settings are perfectly fine, typical third person shooter fare. You go from level to level, platforming and shooting zombies and.. very simple puzzles. I haven't played that much of it yet but i can attest to it not being awful, but if you have a high standard for games you might want to give this one a bit of a hard skip. For the morbidly curious player, wait for a sale.

Paranautical Activity Deluxe Atonement Edition

The very embodiment of "Meh".

Let me get this straight out there, Mike Maulbeck (the dev behind this game) is... well, not a professional developer to say the least, he has threatened people in the past, and he has severe anger issues, googling his name and the word "threat" after it should give you a good idea of what kind of problems this guy has, but does that mean his work is bad? well, it depends what kind of a person you are, personally i don't try to judge a person's work by the persons emotions or stress, or whatever issues they may have in their private life, but Paranautical Activity is a very bland.. bland.. game, you're better off booting up Quake 3 Arena's Skirmish mode and having a blast with that, because there is nothing to look for in Paranautical Activity that could possibly make you think "Wow, i'm sure glad this game was made, sure did change how we look at games today. look how quirky and retro it is.. ha-ha" the only thing you'll be thinking of course is "I can't believe i wasted more than 10 bucks on this visual diarrhea".. but let's get into the review before i also turn into Mike Maulbeck. Gameplay is very simplistic, kill a bunch of monsters, pick up weapons and ammo, go to the other room, rince and repeat, i have no clue if you fight any bosses or anything because i couldn't stand playing for more than 10 minutes, before i booted up my NES and played a particular game about a plumber who crushes turtles under his own bodyweight - which is a much better game in every single way, as it shows how simplicity is done right, Paranautical Activity shows how it's done wrong, i'm sorry that this review isn't in-depth, but just look up a 3 minute gameplay video or something, because there isn't much to see in this game, if you still think this game looks good, by all means pick it up, but be sure to pick it up during this years GOG insomnia sale as it's not worth the full price they demand, there are simply better games in the same genre.. (no hard feelings.)

Mutant Mudds

Retro Fun And Whining Trolls.

First of all i have to mention, this game is fantastic if you want retro fun, theres no use explaining it, what you see is what you get, a very hard but addicting platformer that takes a little bit of time to finish, but its worth every minute or hour you put into it. Now for the people complaining, DON'T, GOG is also a place where indie developers can release their titles, sure, you can get the games other places, just like you can get milk and soda at another store, buy another brand of car, at another car shop ,etc, etc, etc. stop complaining about silly issues that affect NO ONE, its YOUR choice to buy the game, they don't shove it down your throat, buy what you like and leave the rest to those who likes it, thank you. - A Happy Customer

Arma 2: Combined Operations

Anything but a normal shooter.

This is a military simulator at its very core, being used in military bases around the globe for training since the first Operation Flashpoint, this is a highly realistic experience, it has a story, but the main selling point TO ME is the multiplayer and MASSIVELY fun mission editor you can play around with as you like, you can play this game AS you like when you're in the mission editor, id go as far as calling it a GTA clone in that perspective, while its not GTA, it has that same feeling when you mess around, which is massively fun, also to those who may misunderstand what this game is actually like gameplay wise, its NOTHING like a normal shooter, anything but, i can't describe it, but it feels very realistic, thats a selling point too, realism, if you don't like realism in games, this is not the game for you. however if you played ARMA 1 or you're an old veteran from the first Operation Flashpoint, buy this at once, it will NOT disappoint, (well unless your computer is a pile of s**t then im sorry for your money-loss.)

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

The Movie Game That Succeeds

I have to admit, when i played "Escape From Butcher Bay" back in the day, it may have been ONE of the best games i had ever played from that time, and with this sequel, an upgraded version of EFBB is included, This dark stealth/action FPS is worth every penny, the dark story, the amazing sci-fi environments, the characters, everything feels.. so perfect, this game also has some small side-quests you can do, its not an open world game, but its not a complete "go from A to B" game either, its open ended in SOME way, Anyways stop reading my rambles and just pick this game up already, theres a high chance you'll enjoy it!

Deus Ex 2: Invisible War

Not Perfect, But Good Enough.

I bought this game a few years back, coming out of Deus Ex 1 as a hard-core fan i expected something good, i was so very wrong, this game does NOT hold up as a sequel, but that should in no way scare you away, if you bought and enjoyed the third game, then you will most likely enjoy this one as well, although this game is more of a "shooter" to me than a true RPG experience, but the element is still "there" its just hard to notice, after a while you'll start enjoying this game for what it is, this game is not broken in any way, its just... not Deus Ex, but a decent shooter with RPG elements, sure, pick it up if you enjoyed the third game, or just want to play a dark game thats a shitty sequel to a master-piece of a game.

Tomb Raider 1+2+3

Excellent blast from the past.

I never got to finish any of these, i only played through them half way because of all the other good releases at the time, so i never had any time to finish them, but while i never finished them, i enjoyed them these games were also the inspiration for excellent modern games like Uncharted, the gameplay in these games are very similar, you go through a level, most levels have a handful of enemies and puzzles, you go from A to B. like most games of that time, sometimes theres a twist on it, and sometimes (correct me if im wrong) theres an action scene, like a chase or something, even if im not correct with this review, that should not bother you at all, because anyone who has missed these games should buy em right now! missing out on these games is like missing out on Mario, these games are classics so, what are you waiting for?! just buy them already! :)

Far Cry® 2: Fortune's Edition

Hmmmm...

This game is in NO way perfect, since my computer is well.. shit i cannot play the most modern games with extreme graphics or anything like that, so i had to buy the PS3 version of this game for me to experience it on high graphics mode, the graphics.. look okay for todays standards, nothing groundbreaking or anything, it gives that African atmosphere, thick jungles, and a desert/grassy wasteland, the gameplay is extremely repetitive, the enemy camps respawn quickly, something i hate with this game is the rusty weapons, while it might make the game more realistic, realism is NOT what far cry needs, in many ways it broke the game, in others, it made it better as its about survival in Africa, and the hunt for "The Jackal", something that was fun to do was to lure enemies into tall grass, then set it on fire, which sat the enemies on fire, this also means you can figure out different tactics to take out enemy camps and outposts, which is a good thing, you can sneak your way into a base taking them out with modified "stealth guns" or your knife, or you can go in guns blazin', the story is just okay enough for you to play through the entire game, i mean its mediocre but.. oh well, there is no replayability besides playing through the missions another way and to get the second ending, if you don't focus on the main missions though you do get a very nice open world game, also it has a few mods out there that add bots to the map generator/editor so you can have endless fun making maps while blowing people away, or making stunt courses, you get a whole pack of awesome with this release, but it depends who you are, do you like open world games that really aren't that fast, or are you the type of person that likes to take your time with a game, while to me this is nothing compared to the first game, its still a very good one, Recommended 4/5. (this review does not do the game justice, you should always try it out for yourself first, thanks for reading)

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell®

Awesome! but....

....I feel like the console port are just much better, i played this back at my original big fat Playstation 2, it was AMAZING! I'm a huge stealth-game fan ever since i picked up Metal Gear Solid for the original PS1, and im not trying to make a consoles VS PC flamewar or anything, but some games are just made for certain systems, like certain FPS's are made for PC, and certain RPG's or TPS's are made for consoles, this is one of those times, now one thing ill have to say, PC games will always look better than the console version, mostly because a PC always can be faster, and better than a console, but also because of communities that make MODs and Patches. (although there are a FEW examples of games out there that CLEARLY look better on consoles, but thats another story) the point of this review is, it doesn't matter what platform you play your games on, play on whatever console, or whatever typer of PC you want, Splinter Cell will be a good experience on all of em, this game was revolutionary, while MGS had a solid story, Splinter Cell had solid gameplay, (and well.. a decent story i guess, not the best but whatever) Final verdict: If you are a stealth-game veteran like myself, this is a must, but you most likely have tried it already, however if you're new to the PC version, then give it a try, i personally didn't care for it since i don't have that much time for gaming nowadays, but you might LOVE it, 5 stars.

Populous™: The Beginning

My First Populous Experience.

This was my very first RTS, and Populous game, and what can be said about this game that hasn't already been said about this underrated Gem, You control a Goddess, and you will have to build a village, build up an army, and take down the opponent, classic RTS fare, only that this game has some VERY unique elements, as a goddess you also have different powers, burn down the opponents village, what about a tornado? what about some lighting bolts? or a plague? this game had some unique elements that still hold up to this date, because THIS is what a real RTS is, and i can't recommend this game enough, its just an amazing experience from start to finish, this review might not do the game justice though, but i really want you to buy this game if you have never tried it before, i certainly will for the nostalgia :)
