Interstellar Space: Genesis

Best Master of Orion2-esk Game so far

I have tried many of the Mater of Orion 2 inspired games out there. But none was as good as Interstellar Space: Genesis. It fulfills the formula, while adding new mechanics and systems to the game. It looks good and has a general serious artstyle, it has turn based combat, and is deep and rich in space exploraiton and empire building. Highly recommended for all MOO2 or 4x Fans - the only caveeat is that the developer should make more DLCs (pleeeeaase;). I reommend buying the curent ones, too for a full experience.

Mortal Glory 2

Oversimplified and (much) less than MG1

I am a huge fan of Mortal Glory 1, so I was awaiting the sequel with excitement. But sadly, for me, MG2 is a disappointment. Everything is simplified and toned down. * No Gladiator management at all. You cannot recruit your gang and decide who goes into a battle. * The item shop is only available when the game decides, and it also serves as recruitment with only 3 choices. * No wages you have to pay for your gladiators * The map view does not make much sense, is there only one battle per.. city? (Or whatever the locations represent.. no idea) * The story pieces seem to be reduced and also .. only on map locations. It feels in total like a bland version of MG1 with less depth. Sorry devs.

SKALD: Against the Black Priory

Masterpiece - visually, and in writing

SKALD is pixel-beautiful, dark in tone (which again fits its amazing pixel art), and… What has surprised me the most… so well written in its story dialogues and text pieces, which even have multiple choice! RPG Game mechanics and combat are also well done and matter. Double Highly recommended.

System Shock

Simply amazing, highly recommended

After my 3 hours first look stream I can simply say: it is amazing. The feeling, challenge and the citadel station has been remade perfectly, gameplay is great and the voice acting is full of despair. And on top of that, the cyberspace is just a treat. Get it, play it at night, and dive into a strangely current story with an AI without ethical restraints. 10/10.

Balrum

Perfect "normal-person" RPG

I love Balrum. It does not put yourself into the shoes of the super-hero, you are just a regular person. And this makes it amazing. Get this gem if you are tired of the sword-wielding, magic-blasting, hordes-of-monsters slashing characters in RPGs. You are simply a guy (or girl?) from a village in the woods. There is a huge world to explore, but even a wolf can be a huge danger. There is much customization, tons of items, and many things to do. And always it feels like you are exploring the world, not some power projection with mega-muscles. Highly recommended!

Stoneshard

No Saving otherwise a gem

The game is a gem. It is amazing and deep but: you can not save. This is kind of a dealbreaker - with the demo on steam I have played already 4 or 5 times, but when you die it is over Please developers, change that and let us save the game! For those who love the iron mode challenge, you can still do so.
