Hollow Knight: Silksong

Pretty Game, With Annoying Difficulty

I made the mistake of reviewing this game before I even had time to play it, and I’ve regretted that decision ever since. Thankfully, GOG now lets you delete old comments, so I wanted to make things right. I’ve been waiting for Silksong since the day it was announced, and it was by far the oldest game on my wishlist. I loved the first game, completed it 100%, and couldn’t wait for more. But Silksong wasn’t quite what I expected. It’s undeniably beautiful, with stunning art and creative characters, but the difficulty spike hit me hard. I was hoping for a story-driven experience with a steady increase in challenge, yet the game throws you straight into the deep end and never lets up. I don’t mind tough games, but Silksong feels frustrating rather than rewarding. It’s as if the devs wanted to test players’ patience with every possible punishing mechanic. To make matters worse, your character never seems to grow stronger, so it becomes a cycle of “get good” and die—over and over again. I still respect the artistry and effort behind Silksong, but I wish it had a better balance between challenge and fun. Maybe one day I’ll have the patience to give it another shot, but for now, it’s just not the experience I was hoping for.

Kingdom: New Lands

Has Potential If The Developer Fixes It

This game could have been really great, but it's very clear that the developer didn't take the time to get the a.i. right, or work out all of the bugs. It's hard to explain how much of a mess this game is, because it seems like it works fine when you start playing it, but the problem comes in with the procedurally generated levels, and HORRIBLE a.i. controlling the characters. I played this game for hours only to get soft-locked over and over again. I finally made it to level 3 (after overcoming many janky issues), only to play for another couple of hours and then got my ship stuck at a enemy portal with absolutely no way to progress. I did everything I could to get the ship moving again, but no matter what I tried, nothing worked. It would be great if the devs allowed you to control tasks, or send the workers to a specific location, but unfortunately it's all random ... and it DOESN'T WORK. It feels like the devs have a great idea in their heads, but didn't quite know how to implement it. I ended up giving up on the game, but I'm willing to go back to it if they fix it. I hope the devs knows that I refuse to buy any more games from them until they fix this one.

The Procession to Calvary

Ridiculous Gaslighting

I honestly can't believe that GOG is releasing games from this publisher. These games are all purposely trying to antagonise people of faith in the name of "art". The descriptions of the game alone are extremely insulting to the Christian tradition. You can call it "art" all you want, but mocking people of faith, the crucifixion and those who suffered at the hands of tyrants is truly despicable.

Best Survival Game of All Time!

I was hesitant to get this game due to the reviews, but I ended up getting it on a sale. I'm actually kind of annoyed that it has such a low rating on GOG, because it doesn't deserve a 3 star rating at all. This is one of the best survival games that I have ever played. It's very similar to games like Sheltered and The Flame and The Flood, but the level of detail in this game is absolutely mind blowing. There are so many objects and items that you can craft, and an endless variety of quests and daily activities to keep you busy. I was going to wait to submit my review, but I've already put a few dozen hours into the game and I'm absolutely loving it. I have stumbled across a few minor bugs, but nothing game breaking. Overall I would highly recommend buying this game. It's well worth the price!

Best Survival Game of All Time!

I am a huge fan of games like The Flame and The Flood, so I decided to give this one a try. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. This game is so incredibly huge that it actually rivals that of Breath of the Wild and Tears of The Kingdom in terms of content. The basic premise of the game is to walk around a post-apocalyptic world disassembling everything you see around you in order to get stronger and obtain parts for crafting. When you start the game you're only able to destroy certain things, but as you upgrade your abilities you're then able to destroy bigger and bigger items, until you can basically can destroy anything and craft anything. The combat in this game is also really great, but starts out a bit clunky. The devs did a great job at making a lot of the enemies really scary to come across in the wild, so it adds a fun level of suspense as you're roaming the world. There are only two things I didn't really like about the game, but they are rather minor. #1. It's hard to know where you are, or where you need to go. This forces you to explore the world a lot more, but it also causes you to get distracted and forget to complete certain tasks. #2. The checkpoint placement is okay, but it hurts a lot when you end up dying when you've wandered far enough from a checkpoint. I would have preferred a more balanced checkpoint system, such as having more access to teleporting to other parts of the map. That being said, I plan on putting well over 100 hours into this game, as well as completing the expansion packs. This game is well worth the price, and I can't recommend it enough!

Such a Great Game

This is one of those games that really surprises you. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did, but it is such a blast to play. The graphics are simple, yet charming in it's own way. The controls are extremely fine tuned, so any mistake is completely your fault, yet each level feels like it's within reach to beat. I'm not sure what else I can say beyond the fact that this is a great value! 3 games for $10! You won't be sorry!

How Is This Possible?

I knew exactly what to expect when i bought this game, because I've played Kyle's games before and they never let me down. This guy is quickly becoming one of my favourite game creators, and i can't wait to see what else he comes up with. I really don't have much to say about the game beyond just telling you to just buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Fun and Easy

Much like the other reviewers, I thought this game was really fun, but a bit too easy. That being said, it's still worth picking up and playing through, because the story is well rounded and the graphics are very nice to look at. An easy 4 stars for me.
