I loved this game when it came out, still have the original on CD-Rom, but it does not like modern PCs at all. I was super happy to see it released on GOG, because it punched me right in the nostalgia. However, I can't even get it to start on my desktop. On startup, it throws an "model models/efx/burncoll.mdl has invalid id tag" error, which is followed shortly by a divide by zero error.

Disclaimer: This is an initial gut reaction to seeing the DF series on here, and purely nostalgia based. Over the last few years, I have actually been aching to play the original DF. I still have my original CD but it is scratched to the point that I can't even get it to read, let alone install. This is the game that got me started on tactical shooters and, in my opinion set the standard that we still hold games like Rainbow Six to. Haven't played DF in nearly 20 years, and very much looking forward to correcting that. Huge open maps, an attempt to simulate ballistics (though that wasn't really going to happen affordably on 1999 technology), the mission briefings. I am over the moon right now and simultaneously heartbroken that I have to go to work and not spend all day playing this.
