Fun DnD Style RPG with Great Sound

First off, just play for the music and sound. The score is AMAZING, and the sound design is creepy and cool. Second, this feels a lot like someone wanted to make a game a lot like DnD for the PC, and did a great job. If that is your thing, get this game. The graphics are ok and the controls are antiquated, but that is part of the fun here.

Wasteland 3: Colorado Collection

Fun and Weird

I had not background with the Wasteland series, but I enjoyed this game. As a grid and turn based RPG, the combat does not rise to the level of, say, XCom, and calling it open-world is more than a stretch, but nearly everything about the game is fun and weird. Lots of weapons and enemies. Brutal writing. Maybe the best soundtrack in any game I have ever played. Mind-bending weirdness around every corner. If you like this kind of game, get it.

The Bard's Tale IV: Director's Cut - Standard Edition

Fun and Nostalgic

Bards Tale 4 is a updated version of the classic RPGs I grew up playing. It has a good, turn-based combat system, an interesting but not too complex class system, and fun and challenging, but solvable puzzles. The music is amazing, especially if you're into Celtic folk (which I am not), but the score is original and haunting. The story is strong. The art is very good, and the puzzles look and feel cool. The bad: sometimes it is hard to tell where you can and cannot walk. The controls are buggy on Linux (not sure about other platforms). At higher levels, near the end of the game, combat loses much of its challenge, and your party becomes over-powered. If you never played the old turn-based RPGs, such as Bard's Tale, Might and Magic, and Ultima, you might find this game primitive compared to something like Skyrim. If you're an old head like me or if you just have a penchant for retro, this game should be a good time.
