Conquest is probably one of the 2 or 3 greatest RTS I have ever played. Not being a RTS enthusiast, this is the game that got me into hardcore strategy hours for the first time. Don't let yourself be fooled by the little acclaim it may have received, or the lack o f a follow-up title or event updates/expansions. This is strategy at its simplest best. So let's talk about the game. Basically, this is just a regular 2-D RTS: different units, buildings, resource gathering, conquer land. But there are several enhancements to the basic RTS idea that make this game so exciting. - "Land" doesn't exist, of course, as it's in space. But as you conquer planets and set bases on them, you create surrounding space areas which you can control by serving as ammo refilling for your ship (and you ally's!) - You can arrange teams with different kinds of units, to your desire. This makes army arrangement so much easier and useful. - The interface for buildings, research, etc, is intuitive and practical. - Wormholes which connect different systems provide a surprise element that is gladly welcomed. - You can summon "commanders" with different abilities that you can assign to your teams. Commanders can control all the features of the units in the team single hand, and also provide special skills. - The races in the game are different
