i really enjoy these games although i haven't beaten any of them yet. they are great fun for a while but can become tedious. it's always the same thing, you join some guild but the guy who can teach you mastery of that guild is some yo-yo in some other town somewhere, so you have to go around searching him out and it's just such a drag and so time consuming. same goes for becoming an expert at using weapons or whatever, time consuming and really takes AWAY from the overall fun of the game, it's one feature in this series that needs to DIE!!!!!!! it's just so stupid. but maybe other payers don't mind this aspect of the game? it loses 2 stars because of this retarded feature.

i have the original on dvd and could never get it to work on win10 so i am happy to have this version that does, it's also nice that it includes 4 addons(sweet!!!). it did crash to desktop on me a few times but that is a minor annoyance. got it just shy of $3.00 here on GOG so can't beat the price. i don't like modern dogfighters where everything is enemy has a missile lock on you or you have one on them, nothing beats up close and personal thrill of bullets almost hitting you or the satisfaction of bowing up the enemy with you own volley of bullets. one of the best dogfighters for the PC period.

i bought Painkiller Special Edition years ago and fell in love right away. not everyone is into mindless first person shooters but if you are then Painkiller SE delivered BIG TIME!!!! this game seems to use the same game engine as PSE but doesn't feel as enjoyable. but what ruins it for me is that for some strange reason your character has to make random 0ne-liners every 10 seconds or every time you kill an enemy, and the worst part is YOU CAN NOT EVER TURN IT OFF. yep....you heard me right, no way to disable it. i'am only 5 minutes in and am already getting annoyed. can't imagine playing this game for an hour or more. i wish game developers would take this into consideration when making games. please give us the OPTION to turn OFF things we might not like, GAWD!!!!!

it's good for about half an hour/45 minutes or so. my experience was "hey, how cool is this..360 degrees of freedom of movement". and then ended up being "soooo.....is this all there is to this game?" it just did not hold my interest and so i can't give it too high of a rating, i love full freedom in games but there HAS to be some type of an actual GAME in the actual game.

so many people seem to like this game and i admit i haven't put more than a few hours of gameplay into it so far but i can usually tell if a game is a gem or not in the first 15 minutes. thus far i am not really impressed, maybe i need to invest a few more hours? who knows? the games is OK, but so are a thousand other games so??? maybe you will love it? i don't.

OK OK, maybe that seems harsh but this game feels like it was released too early(unfinished)i mean just watch the guard animations loop(sloppy),the whole ROLL-OF-THE-DICE combat system just plain SUCKS, and the map is about as helpful as no map at all, now pretty much almost all of the flaws can be remedied with mods to make the game somewhat playable and given how broken the magic system is this game can benefit big time from whatever mods can improve it. i simply CAN NOT get into this game in vanilla playthrough, i get into a fight with a worm and who do you think wins? that's right, the frigging worm wins thanks to the broken combat system. i am amazed at how many people love this crap game, if you get it ONLY get it when it's on sale and then start searching the nexus mod site for good mods, thank goodness for MODS, the only thing that can save this broken application, but hey....at least it starts up and runs, i have had older gog games that won't even start!

i know that EVERYONE seems to love this game but to be honest it just doesn't DO IT for me. the first game didn't do much for me either, don't get me wrong...i enjoyed playing it but it never really satisfied that space dog fighter in me, and the 2nd freespace game doesn't either. the first game let you choose between running the game in software OR hardware mode, this time around it's 3D HARDWARE mode ONLY, also i was able to easily control my ship with my mouse in the first game, not so with freespace2 , you really can only play this with a joystick! i connected my laptop to my TV VIA HDMI and was disappointed that i could NOT run the game at my TV'S native resolution( so no fullscreen on your TV ). the first one had that FRED editor thing but BALLS if i could ever figure it out? this time around they have it again, haven't messed with it yet but i expect it won't be any easier to use than the first freespace, also i never really liked the large motherships in the first game and sadly they are not much better looking this time around, too bad they didn't hire some japanese modelers to give us some really kewl looking motherships hey this game doesn't suck or anything...it's just an OK game, but if they ever make a third installment then it will be time to hire some NEW TALENT because the guys and gals who are making these games just aren't giving us their best.
