A very satisfying dungeon crawler...exciting and dangerous monsters, clean playability, great artwork, solvable but still challenging puzzles, enjoyable musical score and background ambience... I am old school, back from the days of Temple of Apshai and Wizardry I for the Apple 2+ and this game was in the same tradition, yet light years beyond. Bravo to this team for putting together such a terrific game! Will definitely buy #3!
Not even as interesting as Wizardry 1 or 2, this new Japanese edition is certainly not geared for old-time fans like me. The interface is highly limited and clunky, there is no tutorial or manual anywhere, and one has to guess which keys move you where, and that's just the sad beginning. Creating characters isn't as reasonable as once was either, and no direction and/or advice is offered anywhere. I am a huge fan of Wizardry, as having played them all; maybe that's why this is such a dreadful disappointment. Pass.
I have been playing fantasy games since Temple of Apshai and Wizardry 1...that's 35 years worth...of all the games I have played, I have spent more time with this one than any other. Balanced, challenging, beautiful, completely bug-free, great audio, a million scenarios and campaigns available. It really has that "One More Turn" addiction/enticement...more than any other before or since...
