Immersive, challenging, brutal at times, visually gorgeous, interesting, expansive, clever, complex, rich; all these words can be used to describe this obscure gem of a game. If you like dungeon-crawler RPGs that have an old-school aesthetic, aren't afraid to challenge you and refuse to hold your hand, *this* is the game for you. If you're into diving through maze-like dungeons, managing a party of characters that you yourself created, and delving into a dark fantasy world with a foreboding atmosphere, you will love this game. This game is just amazing and one of the most unique games I've ever played. There is a ton of dialog in the game and at first you might think it's a bit boring, but if you really dive into the lore and the world around you you will start to see how amazing the game really is. The dialog pulls you in and soon you are uncovering clues to mysteries in a grim atmosphere of demons and sacrificial rituals. It really is almost too good to be true because you are constantly uncovering these clues and the game just keeps getting deeper and deeper and the story keeps sucking you in until the outside world is a thing of the past. The game is challenging but if you find the right path to take it's not that bad. Be prepared to save a lot and die a lot as well but it's still very manageable. The best part of this game is the story and investigation that is going on. You will meet people with hidden secrets, ulterior motives, liars, demons incarnate and so much more. Definitely worth the asking price for this amazing gem. Play it and be immersed in this crazy world of unbelievable atmosphere. This game is a true work of art. 5/5
When I first learned of this game, the feature set intrigued me. I'm a sucker for games with depth and RPG elements, so when I saw that this had some of each, I was pretty interested. It wouldn't be until I downloaded and tried the demo, just walking through the tutorial, that I became hooked. This game is very addictive and a lot of fun. It combines many different elements, such as turn-based combat, exploration, RPG elements like skill trees and leveling up, all into one game that seems to have found a winning combination. You can explore various galaxies, explore planets in those galaxies, learn about rumors in the area, find hidden treasures, go on missions, do story-based quests, upgrade your ship, buy a completely new ship, upgrade your character with various skills, trade goods, hunt pirates for bounties and engage in turn-based, strategic combat along the way. It's really crazy all the cool features they packed into this game. $9.99 well spent. Well spent. I am now thinking about picking up another game from this company called Empires and Dungeons 2. You can buy that game on the Niels Bauer Games website for $14.95. After playing this game I will almost certainly grab that one as well. Happy gaming!
