Fight the Corruption
Avadon 2: The Corruption is an rpg where you choose one of five classes and go about setting your world right. It's typical rpg in that you do quests, fight, level up, choose abilities or spells to focus on and go about becoming a real man (or woman). How you do this is largely up to you as you work your way through the story, which will vary depending on how you choose to act. One of the excellent qualities of Avadon is that it immerses you in a world of political intrigue and power shifting. You're not just running around slaying monsters for dubious reasons. The world is crafted so that they make sense in the environment and help set the mood. The story is excellent and has some humor to lighten things up a bit. In addition, there are many NPC's to interact with who have their own personalities and agendas. During battle you enter turn-based mode, which gives you time to plan your attack. Since you control your whole group and many abilities, spells, and objects, the game offers great variation on tactics. The graphics and sound are at a level that is good enough to get the job done and everything seems to be designed with a lot of care and attention to detail. The ambient sounds are plentiful, but there's no music past the intro. In short, if you like a good story where you influence the course of events, and don't need a huge amount of ear- and eye-candy, Avadon 2 will give you hours and hours of pure rpg goodness.
