Avadon 2: The Corruption

Avadon is a well known and well loved title among the crpg die-hard fans and throughout the years it has received well deserved high-ranking status in the indie games community, but does the second chapter hold up to it's predecessors? - Well, of course it does! Lots and lots of new quests, bigger, better unique world for you to explore, new spells and abilities, new, shiny graphics, new monster types and new characters. But, of course it is not without it's flaws. - Some really wacky design choices, some new and some old, extremely bad writing and some unnecessary extra-clicking, will keep you from fully enjoying this gem. - Like, these UFO-looking trap contractions that you can spot from MILES away and instead of avoiding them, you are forced to "dispatch" them, and they even act like monsters, stopping you in your tracks and depleting all your action points. - Did i mention the bad writing? --it's there alright, and after all these years it's still immature. - It's still Avadon though, the characters will still move like robots and the "I" key will still not close the inventory after opening it, but hey, if you can look past the shortcomings, or you have gotten uses to them by now, this new chapter will guarantee you hours and hours of pure classic RPG fun. I haven't yet completed it though to give an accurate review, but from the several hours i've put in, it's definitely a must buy game, especially for the fans of the series.

The first Avadon was better, this one's story not good as was in first one. In the end part (last 2 zones) it became annoying from constant fights with empowered enemies. I felt Jeff ran out from ideas, so he lengthened the game with this. Overall world building was interesting as usual, but something is missing. Anyway, it was interesting journey.

If you like spiderweb games, of course you'll like this. This is the equivalent of brilliant pulp fiction- it's awesome fun, and enjoyed for what it is by those who love the genre as executed by someone who truly understands it.

For years I have had problems sleeping, I have tried numerous pills and took the advice of too many doctors. That is all in the past since I bought this game. The huge ammount of text to read, the somewhat linear story (which could perfectly be avoided since the designers clearly chose to use text as the medium for this game), and the turn-based not so tactital fight system, will make sure sleep will come over you in no time :)
