I really liked Resonance, there isn't one Wadjet Eye game that I haven't liked. The story and setting are simpler than Gemini Rue, for example, but it has a really great system of puzzles and very wide range of them. You can control up to 4 characters in one moment and the developers managed to get them to interact in some very cool ways. Maybe there could have been some improvements regarding usability: a shortcut to switch characters and one to return the map come to mind.
This game is really bad: the 3D doesn't work well, the weird mix between using the mouse and the arrows doesn't work, it has some of the most illogical puzzles (manuscripts!) I have ever encountered in an adventure game, you can't skip dialogs, a lot of times you have to do some things in a certain order to unlock an action, the "stealth" sections are pretty lame with guards that have magical eyes in the back and sometimes don't see you 2 meters away, the hacking games are way to many.... and I could go on and on with the downsides of this game. Only play it if you want to complete all the Broken Swords. I haven't played BS5 yet but it seems that it won't have been necessary to play this game (story-wise). This is the worst Broken Sword game BY FAR.
This game is great, the humour feels fresh for a Point-&-Click adventure. The puzzles have logic inside the world of the game. The protagonist of the game, Hector, reminded me a lot to the Captain in the Life on Mars TV series in how he speaks and style. I would totally buy more Hector stories but it doesn't seem likely that more are on the way.
This is a really good game. It's one game in four chapters. The individual ratings would be: * Legacy: *** * Unbound: **** * Convergence: **** * Deception: **** Legacy is 3 stars probably because it's the origin story. The next ones improve a lot. It's also very clear how the developers learnt from each episode and "fixed" the gameplay and ui for the next game. I hope to play the fifth chapter soon.
Very good game by adventure legends Gilbert and Winnick. Very funny, specially Ransome the Clown. I liked the unexpected ending. The puzzles were mostly ok, and by that I mean logical, some of them provoked the classical "what were the designers thinking!". Highly recommended.
