Picking up where Myst left off, you're introduced to new worlds and new characters. You have a bit more interaction with the people of Riven, and the puzzles continue to challenge you. The story has definatly expanded, and I have to admit to feeling an adreline rush at the endgame. Setting-wise, it's wonderfuly beautiful, and well put together. One of the things I've always loved about the Myst games was the imagination and beauty of the different worlds, and Riven is no exception. If you enjoyed the first one, you will enjoy Riven as well.
Ugh, the one Myst game I didn't finish. Not because of the puzzles, but I was really saddend by what happened to the characters. Unable to say more because of spoilers, but I didn't feel nearly as connected to the characters as I had been through the other four. It's a beautiful game, and the puzzles (expect for the timed ones) and good, but I just lost interest in the story.
This was one of the first non-DOS games I had for my computer, and I still love it. The puzzles get hard at times, but it was so worth going through to see the world and get the story of what happened. I've played all the Myst games, and this one still has soft spot in my gamer heart.
I mostly play this to build roller coasters, but I have gone through various scenarios. The scenarios are usually fun and challenging, and trying to keep up with park patrions can get hectic at times! Good addition to a sim game collection.
I played this on xbox when it came out, and overall I enjoyed it. However, the story and characters don't have the depth I've seen from other Bioware games, and the time it took me to get through the story was about a third of what it would normally take me with an RPG. The morality system seemed rather simplified compared to other games like KotOR, and while it did make a minor difference, being that the choices were very black and white made it seem rather weak. While I don't regret playing it and I did have fun, it's not a game I'd replay for the story unless this special edition expands on it. The one thng I would say is worth getting this game for is the setting. Beautiful environments, good voice acting, and absolutly stunning landscapes made this game worth playing for me. Combat was nothing special, but it didn't drag out or make you feel overpowered, and interactions with NPCs and your companions was well done. So, not my favorite game, but I did enjoy my time with it.
Continuing the universe's story after the first KotOR, Sith Lords is a fun followup. The combat is improved, most of the characters have a deeper story than the last one, and the rediscovery your character embarks on leaves a lot of room for building your own story. The one downside is the fact that this game was rushed, and a large part of the ending was never completed properly. So the ending, to me, left a lot to be desired. However, there are mods that correct this, and it's worth downloading to get a much more complete ending to a great story.
One of the best Star Wars games I've played! Great characters, good story, and good gameplay make it a joy to go through. There are even a decent amount of mods to expand on the both items and story. I've pulled it out and run through many times over the years, and even though I know how it ends, it's still to fun to play with the various character interactions. Plus, the lightsaber combat is loads of fun! Definatly worth checking out if you like Star Wars games.
I was surprised to see this on GOG, but also happy. This was a great RPG! The characters are interesting and fun, the story itself is engaging, and the world setup is unique. It's a long game, and the turn-based combat does get a bit repetitive after a while, but it's worth sticking through for the story. Now I feel the urge to dig up my old disc and see if it will work on my current setup. If not, I may be getting it here afterall!
