You are a boy. You can't fight, you die to anything. You have to learn IRL at the same pace your character does. That first time I learned the directional combat alongside Henry is something so satisfying that a game hasn't given me ever before. The difficulty (recent versions) maintains and doesn't drop off suddenly (one of my issues in the past). I've got maxed stats and still have to fight for my life against overwhelming odds. Calvary is still OP but it always is in every game. The combat is REAL. I've learned to use my 1 handed sword stab. If you time it right against an opponent with any exposed face, a timed stab will land in their face and do crazy good damage. Timed blocks are OP and the slowdown is annoying... but it's all moddable! The story is good. The graphics are good. The combat I clearly love. Stop reading this review and buy the game already. :P It's a truly immersive medieval RPG. I love this game. This game is better than Skyrim. Fight me.
I have played 1,000's of hours in Warband, and until now, it was my favorite game of all time. In Bannerlord I have played for 800+ "days" in my playthrough so far. My character has gone from nothing with just a few family members, to a rich merchant, to a lord of Battania, to a very powerful lord of Battania (with a kid on the way!). For the first time ever in a M&B game, I'm ok with not being king. There is SO MUCH life in this game compared to Warband. Essentially every exploit, easy tactic, annoying wierd thing and overpowered trick is gone. Of course there are some issues, glitches and general weirdness, but for early access being this good, I can't imagine how amazing this game will be for the coming years. I got frustrated with this game a decent amount a few times, but I was proven wrong and ignorant. Coming from single player Warband, it is pretty dang different, but so much better. IF you feel the game is unfair, PAY ATTENTION. This game is not Warband. You can't just kill sea raiders, buy velvet weaveries, level up knights, F1-F3=win. My tips (spoilers kinda): Caravans are very profitable. Try them. Don't build a workshop in a town without first knowing what the attached villages produce. When trading, pay attention to which villages around which towns have a lack of a certain product. Clay from Battania selling to Valandia made me a lot of money after I found the trade route. If you own a castle, and they feel too expensive to garrison, work hard on improving their prosperity. Keep a LOT of food on you and always join armies, they usually get hungry and you can build up influence quick. This game has become my favorite of all time, and I'm certain only another TaleWorlds game could top it. These guys know how to make a good game. <3
The Good: A story good enough to play through dozens of times. The main story will end the same, but the journey there can be so different. The combat is engaging and challenging, especially on nightmare where 1 mistake can get your whole party killed. The Bad: Graphics are outdated and don't hold up well. AI that can cheat the game's systems on harder difficulties. Enemies spawning midway through a combat scenario. The Conclusion: One of the best RPG's ever made. :)
The Good: Fun chaotic gameplay, good pacing of unlocking new bros. Has a level editor, which is always welcome in a game like this. The Bad: Would have been nice to select which bros to play as, since some are pretty useless. Difficulty has major spikes that can be enraging starting about 3/4 through the story. The Conclusion: A fun above average game. :)
Wow what a game. My group, 1/2 of which were escaped slaves, waged war against slavery and all slavers. Had 1 fresh escaped slave recruit die outside Catun from a damn Skin Spider. We moved to The Hub and built up our skills. Struck out to build our own town and wage war against the Holy Nation and anyone who pissed us off. Shek proved to be very useful allies. Built Immortal's Rest town just to the west of Black Desert City. We fed our limbs to the fogmen to become truly Immortal, having Masterwork Scout Legs and Masterwork Industrial Lifter Arms. Masterwork crafted armor and Meitou weapons. Fogmen were unofficial allies to The Immortals. :P Have done just about everything in Kenshi with my 30 man army... The game is pretty easy once you GRIND, learn the map and take proper precautions, but the journey there was amazing. There are issues with the game, like lag and needing to reset the game multiple times in a long playthrough. For me, those things are minor in a game with depth, fun, lore and progression like Kenshi.
