I've never really liked fighting games. 30 minutes into this game and I'm learning to pary with attacks and in the different guards and how the attacks play off each guard in regards to what position your enemy is in... just wow, what a fluid combat game. I haven't even begun learning combos. As a somewhat medieval fanboy I LOVE this. Great work! Another developer to watch. :)
I may be biased, but I love this game. It can be boiled down to a repetitive boring slog to get through, or it can be seen as an amazing simulation of medieval combat and diplomacy. I lean toward the latter. I have played this game too much over the years, taking over the whole map multiple times and enjoying so many mods and overhauls. Gekokujo is #1 for me, conquering all of Japan was incredibly difficult (until my armies were unbeatable) and satisfying at the same time. If you're a strategy game fan, this is an easy recomendation.
A first person shooter with horror elements that was decently challenging and atmospheric. Sure, once you figure out the controls and the enemies you can just glide through the levels like a badass killing everything fairly easily. Yet, the game(s) were fun for me up until the end. I can barely remember any of the story, hardly interesting at all, but the gameplay was addictive and fun. AI is not completely brain-dead like so many FPS's, but I was disappointed after so many people put this game on a pedastal of AI brilliance.
You are a boy. You can't fight, you die to anything. You have to learn IRL at the same pace your character does. That first time I learned the directional combat alongside Henry is something so satisfying that a game hasn't given me ever before. The difficulty (recent versions) maintains and doesn't drop off suddenly (one of my issues in the past). I've got maxed stats and still have to fight for my life against overwhelming odds. Calvary is still OP but it always is in every game. The combat is REAL. I've learned to use my 1 handed sword stab. If you time it right against an opponent with any exposed face, a timed stab will land in their face and do crazy good damage. Timed blocks are OP and the slowdown is annoying... but it's all moddable! The story is good. The graphics are good. The combat I clearly love. Stop reading this review and buy the game already. :P It's a truly immersive medieval RPG. I love this game. This game is better than Skyrim. Fight me.
So I was excited to see this, but hesitant seeing the reviews. Eh, it's GoG, I'll buy it and refund if there's an issue. UH YEAH. I can't even play on Professional Difficulty because Mastery levels are locked BEHIND THE ONLINE ACCOUNT? LOL? Not at all ok, as Professional was the only way I played this game in the past. Just wow.
2080 super, 9700k, 32gb ram @3200mhz, installed on an M.2 ssd. Version 1.6 Very Hard difficulty, 74 hours played according to the save game. I had almost no game breaking/progress breaking issues. 1 mission had a body I was supposed to pick up 400 meters underneath the area I was at, breaking the mission. A few T poses that corrected within seconds. Audio issues (phone had normal muffled phone sounds then all of a sudden clear as if they were standing next to me) footsteps not making noise, hacking a turrent seemed to be the cause. All fixed with a quicksave and reload. 1 time the chime door I walked through the sound got stuck looping, had to restart to fix that. Subtitles getting stuck on screen when I had them turned off. Quicksave/reload fixed that too. Not a perfectly unbuggy game, but hardly the POS so many people seem to say it is, even on PC. The writers clearly know how to write characters. So many characters to like and dislike based off of realistic reasons. That's as far as I'm going, as not to spoil anything, but I really enjoyed all the story aspects and characters. A fun game all the way to the end. Gameplay felt like a mix of GTA, Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, Watchdogs and a little Borderlands. Only the good parts of those games, though. ;) Getting Legendary equipment from the most random enemies or loot felt rewarding as hell. Many things hidden away in certain spots to reward exploration. The difficulty at first was a bit annoying, until I learned more about the game. I went with a netrunner build and had a lot of fun killing people with my mind. :P End game you will become super powerful, especially if you do a lot of the side content like I did. I game the game a try, and despite all the fear I had the game would suck, it was awesome. I hope their online for this game is like GTA:O. Running around with friends doing story missions and side content with friends in THIS universe would be SO GOOD.
