This is dlc for an early access game. The game isn't even finished yet but it already has dlc. Let that sink in for a moment.
It's a cute tank game with a bit janky implementation. The tanks, combat and gameplay in general are ok but the environment is really basic. This is the closest thing you can get to an offline Wolrd of tanks / War Thunder single player game. Get it on sale and it's worth it. :) Works well on Linux.
People complain about the price. Firat of all, this is the 11th faction released for this game. That's 7 extra factions on top of the 4 you het with the base game. For reference, most strategy games do not have more than 4 factions and if they do they are reskins of each other. Warhammer 40k is an expansive universe so, as a game developer, you simply cannot put ALL factions in the base game because the studio will go bankrupt before the game is released. You don't like the price or business model? Fine. Don't buy it. Vote with your wallet. Gladius is a very good game which has the most official warhammer 40k factions of any other game to date. You don't have to buy all the factions. You don't have to buy the game if you don't like it. It's as simple as that. The DLC is good at what it does. It adds the dark variant for the Eldar just how Chaos Space Marines did for the Space Marines. If you like the Dark Eldar it's good dlc which you will be able to get at a discount in several months. :)
The attention to detail in this 2 decade old game is way better than in titles such as Jedi: Fallen Order. Light sabers leave burn marks on almost everything they touch and you get cinematic finisher moves + dismemberment without them being touted as "revolutionary" features. They're just there. The same goes for saber customization, various projectile weapons and RPG like force power advancements. And did I mention it has multiplayer game modes with optional bots? Game changing mods that add new player models, maps and even new campaigns? Sure. There's even this open source engine remake project (OpenJK) which offers things like bug fixes, better resolution support and even a Linux build. Sadly, there are no ponchos. :|
The faction plays like the Space Marines but you get to build smaller cities apart from the capital. Worth getting if you're really into the 40k lore or if you catch it on sale to complete your collection. Gladius has the most factions out of any Warhammer 40k game ever made. Also works great on Linux. :)
This is a good game. Good driving and shooting mechanics. Good atmospheres. It could have been great but there are a lot of repetitive actions. It's also very important to distinguish between a product of fiction and the false claims made by some saying that it's "racist towards white people". I think some people don't like the game because it's inspired by a dark period of America's history that is usually depicted only from the white, prosperous family perspective while ignoring everything else. The game ruins the bliss of living in ignorance. It's not "racist towards white people" to tell someone that a lot of people were racist in 1960s America. It's history.
I really wanted to like this game since the pizza tycoon genre is underrepresented at the moment. My main criticism with it, apart from the usual lack of customization in regards to the restaurants which are all pre-built, is that the game is boring and does very little in terms of what you'd expect from a tycoon or management simulation type of game. You don't see any detailed statistics like how many pizzas of each type were sold and to what type of customers. You just see the total amount of money each pizza type has made and the costs associated with them. Otherwise the game does a decent job at managing employees and it offers fair amounts of customization in terms of what furniture you can buy and where to place it. It feels more like a Sims addon and less like a stand-alone game.
