Cyberpunk 2077

G.O.A.T. Status Game

When this game launched, it was a good game with bugs galore. Playable on the PC, but with many visual bugs, a few broken quests, and some questionable design choices. However, the game was still packed with tons of action, an intense narrative story, superb voice action, and a game world built with a deep, deep lore. The main story quest was, far and away, one of the best stories ever told in a video game. Even wiwith all the aforementioned bugs, the PC version was still super immersive and enjoyable. CD PROJEKT kept working and working on this game, patching out the bugs, fixing any broken wquests, and then topping it iff with the PHANTOM LIBERTY DLC, which added tons of features on tolp of the new quest and ending for the main character. The final version of this game is one of the Greatest games Of All Time. This games NEEDS to be in your game library. It is a masterpiece of storytelling.

EVERSPACE™

Still in "EARLY ACCESS" in 2021

This game was relesed in eptember 2016. That's when I purchased Everspace. Everspace is a fine space sim with a very limited story and a game design that depends heavely on grinding, grinding, and more grinding, just so you can upgrade your ships. In fact, upgrading your ships is the only real motivation to keep playing. The narrative that exists come sin the form of chance encounters with quest givining NPCs. The GREAT thing about this game is that it is so beautiful. The graphics are gorgeous, and should hold up for a few years, In 2021, the game still looks awesome, even though it was released back in 2016. If you are satisfied with a beautiful dog fight simulator, then this game won't dissappoint. But don't expect any kind of story to compell you to keep playing. You're playing to upgrade your ships, and make the dog fights easier and easier.

Mafia III Deluxe Edition

Worthy Entry into the Mafia Series

I bought Mafia III on Steam long ago and played it through to its conclusion. Mafia III is a departure from the mostly linear gameplay of its predecessors, and suffers from the same grinding side quests from which ALL open world games suffer. For those who are saying that Mafia has worse graphics than Mafia II - they're either playing on inferior machines, or fail to realize that with an open world, you have to put less emphasis on details like reflecting mirrors. The voice-acting in this game are top-notch. Make no mistake, this is a AAA game. The cops-will-shoot-at-you-first dynamic actually feel right here, because you're playing a mixed race character in the 1960's Deep South. Racism is in your face, and it is abundant everywhere. One reviewer said that Lincoln Clay was "not relatable"... well, guess what snowflake, the 1960's Deep South was a hotbed of hate (oh I'm sorry, heritage), and this game captures that reality in all its glory. If you don't already have the Steam version, this is a great game to pick up!

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition

Div:OS EE is an instant Classic!

It took me 117hours to beat this game, and it was time well spent. You can tell the developers really love RPG's by noticing all the details, visuals, lore, sounds, voices, humor, and action they put in this game. The game looks gorgeous, and plays extremely well, even on an old AMD FX-8350 bottle-necked system. Even in "normal" mode, this game's puzzles are difficult. Nothing is obvious, which can lead to some frustration (it did for me). But that is part of the challenge. As you progress and level up your characters, you feel powerful, but never overwhelmingly so. You have to always use sound tactics, or battles will go south on you FAST. And you MUST remember to quick save before/after any significant event, combat, and encounter. I spent plenty of time having to replay an area because I got cocky and didn't save after too many battles, only to finally lose and have to start over from my last save. This is a five star game, that gets almost everything right. The crafting system should have been more robust, and junk items should be clearly marked as such. By the end of the game, I was haulign alot of stuff I didn't need. Also, you don't know what you need to keep, but I guess that just contributes to the strategic challenge of the game itself. Even if you played the standard edition, you should give the enhanced edition a try. It has new quests, characters, voice acting, a graphics overhaul, and an expanded and changed main plot. This game is right up there with Neverwinter Nights - an instant Classic!

EVERSPACE™ Deluxe Edition Upgrade

A Really Bad Idea for a Really Good Game

This is NOT a review of Everspace. I bought Everspace when it was in development, and liked it from the begining, and then LOVED it as they kept adding more and more to it. They should have added this free, or given a really DEEP discount, to all the people who pre-purchased. This is what OTHER developers do, as a Thank you to all the fans who supported and believed in them from the start. I hope they read these reviews and the community feedback, and change this.

No Man's Sky

Not For The Impatient or the Immature

If I had reviewed this game when I first got it, I would have given it, one star. After playing it for the first couple of hours, I would have given it three stars. After a couple more hours, I may have given it two stars - because I seemed to have mastered the few unique tasks with which I thought the game was presenting me. That is, until I had a moment to think about what compelled me to pay the game in the first place. I discovered I could make money by mining and selling my wares. I discovered that I could buy better ships with bigger cargo holds, that would improve my inventory management, and upgrade my multi-tool and my exosuit. I also could run around discovering new lifeforms, which also earn you currency, and discovering new words with which I could use to communicate to aliens better. But I fooled myself. I realized that no one told me to do ANY of that. No Man's Sky is not about never ending side quests, fighting, boss battles, or any other contrived goals. This game is a journey about discovery and exploration. And it is the most relaxing game to come out in a long time. It is the MYST of this generation. There is an overarching puzzle to solve - but you can ignore it completely and choose to explore your surroundings, make up your own purpose, and just get lost in the game. Is it worth $60? Not likely. Maybe wait until the price drops a bit. But if you want to experience a completely relaxing and beautiful gaming experience, get it now.

Lichdom: Battlemage

An FPS, using Magic instead of Bullets

The title says it all. This is not a Role Playing game, although you do take on the role of a male or female of the protagonist. There is no leveling your character, no classes, no races to choose from, etc. This is not an RPG. Magic and Fantasy setting doesn't equal RPG. Lichdom: Battlemage is an FPS. In fact, it's a good FPS, where your mage character wields powerful, replenishing spells. Fallen enemies drop spell modifying "loot", in the same way that vanquished enemies drop guns in Borderlands. Being an FPS means that this is a game of SKILL, and progresses in a linear fashion. Think Call of Duty, instead of a sandbox adventure like Far Cry. And the use of the Crytek engine ensures that the game is GORGEOUS looking. The graphics are AAA, the voice acting is very good, though not great. There aren't many varieties of fodder bad guys, but the Bosses are all unique and memorable. If you got this game for 80% off, like I did at GoG.com, it was an absolute steal. I don't know why this game didn't make more money when it was released.
