Unless pure dedicated genre lover of a specific type, and not diverging from it, this is a must try once play game. Don't worry about the difficulty, it does not differ a lot so ignore those saying not too hard or so or must be done on hard, it is about the story, the journey and conversations had. For some it might take a bit, but it will grow on you, and sure it has the forced drama moments, but if this was a 1h episode series, you would be binge watching it non-stop. You will be thinking of it outside game time. Would be nice if this would get love through expansion or maybe a whole different character story wise or whatever. Really hope this gets the love it deserves and maybe future sequel? Or similar story? (And big thanks from GoG to help upgrade to deluxe to support the dev's and gog for having this!)
Reasonable, but... I never get why no saves where there can be different results but forced replay, just to get forced replay-ability (numbers) up. It is actually off putting and you have to do a lot of things again, and again, and again in the sense of insanity. (Not to mention unskippable parts for X time...) Such feature is more fitting for action paced rogue like games. Also a lot of bugs that need fixing, for example need to show evidence good luck with a view that does not scroll.
This is a Real time strategy/tactical game with resource management and not base building. You do not have unlimited units, and they have limited ammunition and fuel. So you need to manage that they get resupplied with that, and those resupplies are limited as well. On top of that you need to manage credits and supplies managed for traveling around the theater map. However, the fights are really nice, and perhaps in beginning painful and frustrating. And the enemy hits hard the harder difficulty. Some people complain about the difficulty on normal even, but that has been nerfed a bit and some weird mission pains as well. Sadly there are still a few moments, where you feel cheated on how they want you to continue and rethink your available troops. Understandable why they do it, and what they want to achieve, but they should have handled those a bit different. The technical issue's described by others, especially regarding saving, have been fixed. and wide screen is properly in there as well. All in all, a must have for those that love RTS/RTT. HOWEVER, if you have anger issue's it might be better to avoid, as there will be moments you will lose men or vehicles because something didn't go as you planned. Only real downside is that voices are English only, no German, French or Spanish. Regarding translations they are fine for other common EU languages, I did see there was a Dutch which is fun and good to see they for once get their translation. Strange enough no Italian or Portuguese, and also would have expected Japanese/Korean/Ukrainian. However note that there is no Polish unlike the GoG site says.
The 2.1 is more the official 1.0 that they promised to release. Gameplay is good and combat is fun, and a lot of other reviews highlight the pro's. There are however some downsides that they should still need to change... During all the patches they made it so that the ripperdocs are no longer unique, it is sad they took such a quick dirty change due all the complaints about two ripperdocs instead of alternative solution. They might as well remove all except one as there is no need for those anymore no, sad... The combat difficulty on hardest is easy depending on how you play. Melee melee is extremely overpowerd, in the beginning is it challenging and you die fast but once a level and perk threshold has been reached... Well then it is over. Melee combat really needs a hard nerf, especially after the relic perks from phantom liberty it is overpowered beyond words. The police are rather dumb. They are more around but very easy to avoid and get rid off. Would be nicer if notoriety got higher faster, and that they and Maxtec started kicking some teeth in around Night City. Maxtec is not hard for melee. 2.1 Pursued by gangs due to aggressive approach during gigs, tried and didn't see anything. Maybe they die too fast? I don't know, felt nothing different in there. Would be nice if gangs and corporations actually started noticing V due the street cred and/or reputation and act accordingly aggressive or friendlier. Where is Trauma Team? Bring them in for once... Stealth is fun if you force yourself to be so but it is time consuming. Same results can be done at least 10x faster with just guns blazing in there. There is no bonus or reward for doing so, or penalty when going guns blazing like something as lot less rewards/drops, slowly becoming wanted, hated by NC all... Why spend 30-60min on something that can be done in 5-10min tops. Not sure why any fixer would want hire and reward fully a shooting psycho for something that had to be done "sneakily".
A great, no fantastic sequel of the Jagged Alliance series. If you come from JA2, even the community patched version that was updated for 20 years, then you will see that this game stays loyal in all areas and improves where needed. The game uses the known xcom tactics cover and attacks but with action points to determine if you can do something. It does keep possibility of shots hitting a bit vague to keep it a bit hard and requires time to get a good guess on it. But unlike xcom and other similar tactical games where you go gun-ho into fights and clear every spot. This game requires tactics with ammunition limits in mind, thus stealth or retreating and coming back later to clear the rest later on are all valid approaches, and recommended~! There are a lot of weapons, for every type a few, maybe a bit less than JA2 and especially the community addition, but you have to take into account that a lot in those two were more clutter and had few OP weapons that you just quickly rushed for. Melee is a bit lacking and requires properly gear and perk building before viable, but fun once to get off. Points that need be know: - JA3 changed inventory to strength only based, in JA2 it was based bags and strength. - There is no website for infinite ammunition or quickly get the best stuff there is, this means you have to do with scavenging and weapon and ammunition management. This might be frustrating when you just waste shots and go gun-ho. So don't. - Loot drop low, while it might bad, once a bit further and proper weapon/ammunition rotation and conservation you have a lot later on. Would be boring if they all dropped everything. - Overwatch is powerful but quickly wastes ammunition - Right click to aim, body is easiest to target like in real life - Not only rifles are good, all have their place, just experiment and each fall into their place - Shotgun are short range but really good - Pistols are great to get multiple hits in
Really great adventure compared after getting it, and even better in my opinion in German. For those wanting there is a classic mode where you have to search a bit more at few moments and a modern mode which highlights potentials and reduces time based puzzles, which are.. just a few? didn't have any issue when running both modes side by side, not too much difference. So when you start just decide if you want additional "pixel" hunt or, for the few affected, a bit more clearer indication where something interesting could be. Only real issue about the game is the length. This is what all adventures have if you put the puzzles in sequence. Most solve it with strange/illogical puzzles, that make you think "why.....", but this game does not do that so, so that is a massive plus and thus an unfair feeling it might be short. But logical harder ones would been nice, but maybe future games/sequels. In all this is a highly recommended to have for true adventure games, and should not be missing out in your collection. Here is to hoping the game is greatly received and that many more amazing adventures will out. Good sides: 1. The graphics and animations are done really proper, the jokes are matching though of course it depends on your own taste 2. Everything voices, and majority of items have their own feedback instead of a few generic ones 3. Good story and flow of puzzles 4. Old point & click vibe for those that crave it 5. References to other old point & click games (I think) 6. You can die but warned beforehand, and despite it clear when can, and you will do it for fun Down sides: 1. No full screen support, seems to be engine issue (fixed in future?) 2. Most puzzles fall a bit too fast into place, aside from a few, some harder would be nice. 3. Uses old style 9 verb commands, but rarely use most (reason modern ones consolidate) 4. Some puzzles later feel weird to solve because of point 3 5. There is a weird boat moment 6. Too short, would like more :)
