Waking Mars

WOW

I gotta say, this is a unique, beautiful(the graphics/atmosphere are much nicer than in the pics and vids) and, as someone said earlier, game with a soul. Voice acting, realistic portraits, funny at times, interesting story...and most of all, no frustration from dying or useless travelling. What you do get out of the game is an excitement about learning how this immersive ecosystem works, a chilled back, wonderful experience provided by the landscape and the music. If I were to go into comparisons of which I know nothing, I would say that this game is like sipping a Mojito in Bali. A must try.

Tyrian 2000

Amazing

This is one of the games I remember with fondness. I already finished it once and let me tell you, it's a gem. Nothing less than perfect, this is what gaming should be about : captivating story, fun and just the right amount of difficulty...a Holy Grail for casual gamers. Trust me, if you're like me, you won't regret it.

Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising

Brilliant!

I LOVE this game. A long time ago, when I was in school, one of my friends gave this game to me on a CD. It came along with a local PC mag. After a couple of missions, I remember thinking to myself ”How the hell do you give such a title for free?”. As I played on I was captivated by the thrilling story, the ability to possess any unit and give squad orders, the curiosity ”piqueing”, masterfully narrated cutscenes and, best of all, the personality of the soldiers. For example, Patton will make sure to voice his dissatisfaction if fighting in anything other than a tank: ”I played with bigger peashooters” :)). I laughed. And oh, did I forget? You can make your units exactly the way you want them. Put on a cloak module, or to hell with stealth, just double up the armour, throw in some extra shields and go in guns blazing. And on top of all that goodness, you have decent graphics (and I'm picky). Another very cool aspect of the game is that you uncover new enemy units, building, weapons and soldiers along the way. I first played this game when titles such as Starcraft, Age of Empires and Quake 2 were popular. I still haven't finished those games, but HW was so captivating I HAD to finish it. If I could choose two games that I utterly loved, those would be Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and this one. True masterpieces in atmosphere, variety, storyline, voice acting and character.
