Transport Tycoon it ain't...

Ok, let's get this out of the way right up front. CIM is a public transport management sim - but it's very different to a game like Transport Tycoon. Unlike TT, you've got to live with the infrastructure you're dealt. You're not laying miles of road here. You're using existing tarmac and instead choosing how best to route your buses, trams etc through existing traffic. In fact, traffic management - moving your fleet efficiently through rush hour traffic and avoiding creating massive traffic jams is a major part of the challenge. All in all, it's an entertaining sim, if not a little devoid of personality.

Act of War: Gold Edition

Very underrated title

This unexpectedly disappeared from Steam some time on the last 12-18 months so I'm glad to see it pop up here on GOG. Act of War reminds me a little of World in Conflict - not so much the modern combat RTS style, but the fact that it was very well received upon release and then quickly faded into obscurity. A quick check of Metacritic confirms for me that I wasn't alone in thinking it was a very solid game, with a rating of 82%. With high production values, live action FMV and some cool near-future technology to fight along side your to-be-expected M1 Abrams tanks and Humvees - exo-suit armour anyone? If you're itching for some old-school base building RTS, you can do far, far worse than Act of War.
