I like the graphics and the atmosphere. But that's about it. The gameplay is horrible. You control everything via icon buttons that hardly tell you what they mean. Text is used VERY sparingly and that is not helping. The whole game leaves you in the dark of what you need to accomplish and how to do it. My favorite is the line "Anna feels bad" - Good to know, but *why* she feels bad is up to you to find out. One of my peeps suddenly died and i still have no clue why. Ressource management games are actually my favorite genre and yet i was fed up after 10 minutes. What a waste of nice graphics.
I love the art, it's really beautiful and with the nice music it creates a great atmosphere. But that's sadly about it. From the start on you're bombarded with information before you even started any real gameplay. And it's soley presented as a series of screens with copious amounts of text and some images. Not necessarily the most welcoming of entries, especially if you want to get into the game instead of reading stuff. This is accompanied by a story in the style of an interactive novel. Again you're flooded with lore, names and plotpoints. I'm sure those will probably be important at some point, but they aren't really well integrated into the gameplay. Also it's a rather average fantasy plot and as such there is definately too much of it at the beginning. Finally the gameplay is okay, it's mostly lifted from "Darkest Dungeon" and differences in the mechanics to that title are rather superficial. Difficulty is jumping up and down, at one point i felt it too easy and then boom, two characters die in a fight. I didn't even really understand why the second one perished - Meh. The UI is made for joypads, playing with the keyboard is very fiddely. Mouse support is barely existent, this is obviously built with consoles in mind. You really need to like those kinds of games to enjoy this.
One of the best games of 2018. Loved every second. It's not a big game, it's not a challenging game, but it's just beautiful and mesmerizing.
