Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition

Badly Balanced Overall

So I bought Pathfinder way back when it first came out and got the standard edition. For a while I had fun with the game, then I hit the first boss of Act 1, who proceeded to wipe out my entire party by himself. I got past it by lowering the difficulty to the easiest, but then in later Acts I hit enemies with 22 Base Attack Bonus + STR bonus + this and that which gave them such insane attack bonuses that no level 7/8 party should be facing. I actually asked someone who runs Pathfinder campaigns and told them what I hit, and his response is that is a poorly ran campaign. So yes even someone who runs Pathfinder campaigns regularly thinks this game is badly balanced. Then I decided to check more on this game on the site, and saw oh you can get the enhanced edition for $20...which has balance fixes. Sorry that should be a patch, I'm not buying the game again. So overall, if you do get this game, be sure to get at least the Enhanced Edition as it might be better, and unless you are a pathfinder expert you'll have to play it on Story or Easy mode to have a fighting chance. I'd give this a 2 - 2.5 star rating as I did have fun for a while, but I'm dropping it all the way to 1 star for charging $20 for a balance patch.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel

Fun Trails Game

Trails of Cold Steel I is the 3rd Trails game I have played, the others being Trails in the Sky 1 and 2. Overall I found this game to be a fun introduction to a new part of the world and new characters. However, you should go into it knowing this game is mainly about the characters and their development, as the game is mainly building towards future trails games. The only negative to me was the final battle as it makes you fight in a new battle system for the first time for two fights, with no chance to train or learn it in advance. Beyond that though, the game was fun and I'd recommend it. And if you have never played a Trails game before this is a good one to start with.

StarCrawlers

Decent crawler marred by RNG Loot system

Starcrawlers is a decent dungeon crawler, but the loot system is totally RNG dependent, which can hurt you if the RNG isn't on your side. The only way to get better gear in this game is to either find it or buy an in game loot box. There is no store to get better weapons or armor unless you have many cubes and even then what that gives you is still RNG dependent and changes all of the time. To give you an idea, at Level 13 I could buy an epic shield loot box, and get a shield that would have been awesome...at level 1. At level 13 it is just an insult though and way worse than what I have. But there's no way to buy better shields in the game, its just buy the loot box and pray it is something you need. If they would get rid of the RNG loot box system and put a real honest to goodness store in the game where you can buy shields, armor, and weapons directly I'd give it 3 - 3.5 stars. But as it is, that loot box system led to be aborting this game in the end as I got tired of it and having to do a random mission just to reset the loot boxes and hope it is now something I need.

Doesn't run at all on windows 10

Game will not run at all on windows 10, it will just hourglass and never launch through gog galaxy or as a separate install. I gave it 5 minutes before I ended it on task manager.

Wing Commander™ 4: The Price of Freedom

Good Game, Awful Port

I loved this game as a kid, but sadly the gog version needs major work. For instance, the DVD version the movies ignore all settings that you set, I had subtitles on and didn't see a single subtitle in this game. Also the movies are super soft but the rest of the game is loud as can be! There's also no way to exit the game short of ALT+TAB then x the window, as ALT+X (the intended key to exit) just crashes the game. And to top it off, the DOS version which they include as a bonus has corrupted files and doesn't work past mission 5. Sadly I have to give it two stars due to all of these issues. You can make the DVD version work, but the DOS version, where, oddly enough, the movies and sound are properly synched so one isn't so loud it wakes the dead, cannot be played unless you got an old copy still sitting around and can provide fix the corrupted files yourself.
