I value GoG's offline installer functinality, it's one of the few reasons I prefer GoG over other marketplaces. Quake 4 is lacking an offline installer mode. Regardless of anything else, that's a pretty big fail imo. Actual game is okay, meaty fps.
Got this working okay on a pi with armbian after running pi-apps and installing Steam and Wine and Box86/64 via a few clicks. Pretty good game - accurate enough to feel like work not play, shame about the compatability issues. I seem to remember a mega-patch for this that fixed problems but can't find it again.
With pi-apps and pi-kiss installed, you can play this absolute classic on a Raspberry Pi or other Arm64 based board, after installing the Windows x64+Box86/64 emulation layer. Videos are problematic, the Indeo video codec on arm doesn't work at all well. Game itself; debatably the best in the Close Combat series, if not this, then Close Combat The Iron Cross. Pick them both up on special, and you'll be very happy if you ever liked any of the Close Combat series, or top down tactical infantry management war games. 10/10 for what it is.
