Heroes of Might and Magic III: Horn of the Abyss

The Best of the Best

That’s why I own 181 games on GOG. It beats STEAM hands down! Thanks GOG for the wonderful gift. I am also waiting for a MOD for another top tier game of all time: WARLORDS III DARKLORDS RISING. Please make it happen.

2nd Best after Heroes III

Just the Random Map Generator is worth the price of admission. Excellent Graphics & Gameplay.

Heroes of Might and Magic® 4: Complete

No Random Map Generator!!!

Get II, III, or V instead. Don’t waste your money on this.

Heroes of Might and Magic® 2: Gold

One of the Great TBS Fantasy Games

For new players, Play this one first before HOMM III, being less complex overall. Very replayable, due to the excellent Random Map Generator and Editor. I still play it besides Heroes III, AOW Shadow Magic, and Warlords II and III. They do not make games like this anymore.

Songs of Conquest

Next King of Fantasy TBS games???

That remains to be seen. It will need more than fancy 2022 graphics and decent gameplay. Apparently it has copied and implemented a lot of elements from the Venerable HOMM very well, but it will never fully match or surpass Heroes3, or Warlords III DLR, until it adds at least 2 major features. 1-A robust Random Map Generator with optional underground tunnels, 2-More Factions. For now, 3rd place in my book after the aforementioned games.

Aggressors: Ancient Rome

Aggressors is an Amazing, Unique Game!

Disregard the negative review below because of a user's issues with his outdated PC! This game worked fine with no issues on my WIN10 Alienware laptop. This game has the perfect combination of TBS strategy, Customization and Balanced gameplay set in the Ancient Era. I have played virtually all the TBS games that focus on the Ancient World and this blows all of them away. The customization you can do is astounding including the Random World scenario editor that comes with the game as well as the Map builder that you can also use to import any map from the Web if you want to start your own scenario from scratch. You can change the properties of units, towns etc. I also liked the very friendly and informative GUI with tooltips and the tutorials. The diplomacy system is functional and provides another layer of complexity and challenge to the game. Aggressors comes with an In-game library and a very informative organized manual that is 247 pages long! How many modern games can boast of such a manual nowadays? The Developer is super helpful and very passionate about his work. He personally reached out at once and helped me out with a couple of questions I had regarding the game and that is something you don't see very often among game developers these days.

Close Combat 5: Invasion: Normandy - Utah Beach to Cherbourg

Good but remake is better

Close Combat: The Longest Day remake by Matrix Games is big improvement over the original plus it includes a lot more maps!
