Use dxwnd to fix all UI issues
I was having issues with Close Combat 3 and 5 but using dxwnd I was able to fix all that. dxwnd is a DirectX adapter of sorts, that can be used to tweak DirectX settings. Download it form its homepage and then Google dxwnd "profiles" for Close Combat. It's guaranteed to work on modern hardware and OS.

Close Combat on Windows 10
This game runs fine on Windows 10, 64-bit. Alt-tabbing does incur the occasional crash. A relaunch will fix the issue. It is recommended to save after every battle to ensure crashes have minimal impact on your campaign. Otherwise, this is identical to the original version of CC5 released on disc, as far as I can tell. I am currently playing the grand campaign as US on the toughest difficulty, and the game is the same as I remember. About 50 hours in, with the game nearly over. If you are a fan of the CC franchise, I recommend buying this.

Just like you remember!
Worth the purchase for returning Close Combat players, this is the original from 1999 just like it was. 5.01 patch included. No hassle installing and no problems playing on Windows10 64bit. No compatibility or administrative settings needed to play. 4 stars for bringing this classic back to the market, minus 1 star for making mods a bit more difficult to use.

The best of the original 5
This one is the best of the original 5 and you can find a lot od mods out there. Besides cross of Iron, this one is the best of them all. The battles can be a bit drawn out but there are lots of obsticales.

Good game, unplayable Gog release.
The game is great, like all old Close Combat games it is a gem and deserves all the praise. The Gog release on the other hand has big issues. The biggest of them all is the in-game scroll speed that is way to high if you're using a decent computer. Tested on both Windows 7 and 10 with the same result. This is a game breaker and sadly if you're not willing to keep using the arrow keys at every 2 seconds to scroll around you cannot play the game. Maybe Gog will read this and add a proper scroll speed that allows it to play on modern computers. Until then my old cd with the game still runs proper (with some tweaks on Windows 7).
