Amnesia: Rebirth

It's pretty good.

It's got a lot of that spooky atmosphere from the first Amnesia. It's a pity that it loses it later in favour of showing you the monster and being chased at around the halfway mark. At this point the game is more like A Machine for Pigs. The sound & visuals are all great; they make me go 'wtf is that????' every now and then. This was partially lost in the second half of the game, with the monsters just being all out there. The story is great...... until the ending choice. It's kind of a stupid you-lose or you-lose kind of thing. The light availability is often ridiculous... either super short on the time you can have a match lit or super short on the amount of time you can have a lantern lit. I believe the max time a lantern can stay lit with 10/10 fuel is about 1 minute, while matches are around a maximum of 10 seconds. The levels differ a lot, depending on the environment... caves are cramped, the desert is fairly wide open. However, as others have mentioned, the levels are all basically a linear trek, regardless of the side paths available. Still, when I was done, I went 'good game!'. I recommend buying this, though maybe on sale.

The Forgotten City

A great story!

This was a mod in skyrim first, then this standalone game second. They are similar in concept, but feel vastly different! Either way, this is a great game, well worth buying! Music is good, environments are impressive looking, gameplay is solid, storytelling is epic! The ONLY thing I can complain about... is that you cannot rebind the weapon switch keys on mouse & keyboard mode. It will always be mousewheel up or down; not terrible or anything.

X-Morph: Defense Complete Edition

Others did it before; they did it better

It's not bad at all.... just that other people have done this same gameplay and usually did it better. This one is full of things to do constantly... meaning that if you like watching npcs fight each other, you CAN'T do that because you are always busy. If you like personal combat in a fighter, this has that, but again others have done it much better. If you like resource collection, this has that... but again others have done that better. As someone else said, it gets boring after a few missions... as well as the constant rush is NOT fun.

Battle Engine Aquila

It could've been good, but it's bad!

The whole transformable mech thing is nice, the music is good, the visuals are satisfying and the gameplay is easy to get into. The helper troops are nice to fight alongside, but are rarely needed; they are more like flavour. The cutscenes also add quite a bit of flavour; they even did them in-engine. The problems come in when you get into the actual missions: A lot of missions have objectives that force you to do JUST ONE THING, when you could've taken the entire island solo; this can be very annoying. The next problem is that a bunch of missions have a 'you cannot lose more then half your troops' objective. This is also sometimes not even listed in the objectives. You can be ONE building away from victory and suddenly hear 'we took too many losses'. This one in paticular enrages me due to the fact that I can usually solo an entire island!

Recompile

It's great for what it is.

The entire game is very good, fun, looks cool, sounds good and is easy to get into. I only have two complaints: 1) The first comms level is a nightmare of jumping. You will get good at it or you will quit at this point. I recommend getting good at it; it's worth finishing the game! 2) You cannot fire any weapon while in the air. This becomes kind of annoying later; you'll understand when you get to that point. It does NOT stop you from kicking ass! If this game looks at all good to you, buy it!
