i like this game a little better then baldurs gate 1 and 2, becuase the story is less important, and the leveling up happens a lot faster. you get more powerful more quickly, and considering i typically play a game for at most about 8 hours before putting it away for another game(yeah i know, I must be ADD or something) i like how you can achieve a lot in so little time. I guess you could say baldur's gate was more of a story driven game, and this one is more of a dungeon crawl. other then that, if you've played baldurs gate, and liked it, you will love this game.
this series is great. now a greater series then this even, is the avernum series by the same creators. much more in depth. but geneforge will do nicely.
i think the only reasons to dislike this game is that its a little different from HOMM 3 and some find that offensive, and lets face it the story isn't exactly blockbuster. after havning said that, let me just say that i did enjoy the story, but it's no final fantasy. other then that, the game is very enjoyable. with the right patches there is an easy difficulty that is WAY to easy, on normal the game is way more fun. peace.
I have always wanted people to remake the old classics of pc rpgs, namley becuase they had horrible graphics but timeless gameplay! well, they remade wizardry AWSOME and now they have remade Eye of the beholder style gaming! I can't get enough! the graphics in this game are awsome, the gameplay is very challenging (you gotta figure out the puzzles quick, or you'll run out of food and torches) and the enemys are fun as heck to beat down with a wide assortment of weapons. spells are fun too! all in all, a must have!
