the puzzles are fun, the graphics are good, it is darker then the previous games, which were also good.
the graphics were alright, but the content was great.
boy I could play these games for hours, and not even get past the first level! that much content! also, these were the good old days, back when rpg's were turn based. you don't see that any more and its a crying shame. the sound is good, there is a lack of music in wizardry 7 that I think adds to the atmosphere rather then takes away, havn't played much of 6 but I think there isn't much music in that one either. I used to play the rpg archives version of wizardry 7, it was the gold edition it came with maps and spoilers of the entire game. very cool, not sure if this is the gold version or not. probably not, because it has a hard time running on newer os's. great stuff, I heartily recommend you dig in immediately!
this game is awsome. now I personally don't care for horror, so it wasn't the scary stuff that got me, it was the great action. this game has its own thing going on, its own flavor that you just don't find in any other game. the weapons are awsome(scyth!) the spells are great, the monsters are good too. I did like how you were always on the tip of your toes, becuase its easy to die, but in this game, its really fun to die becuase you get to watch the monsters kill you in unique ways. obviously if you get killed by the same monster over and over it gets old, but other then that...GREAT FUN! GET IT!
this game had me wishing for more when i finally beat it years ago. i'm not even kidding either, becuase of how much everybody else hated it, people will think this review is a joke. its not, this game is literally one of my favorite games of all time. I look past all its flaws and just see it for the fun it has to offer, and i gotta tell you, if you willing to do that you'll find one of the greatest games out there in this game.
i played the newer bards tale on playstation 2, and found it to be an awsome game! then i tried to buy it on direct 2 drive before they went under(and took my games with them too) but it wasn't win 7 compatible! i don't know how Gog managed to do it, but it is deffinetly worth the price! plus, you get the classic bards tale games! to be honest, i will probblay buy this and play the newer one for a grand total of 1 minute, before moving on to what i really want to play, the originals! i have waited so long for wizardry, bards tale, stuff like that to come to gog, and now its finally here! YES!
a lot of games are graphical powerhouses that people mainly play becuase their graphics are great. but after the years go by, and there are now huge graphical leaps, those games become outdated, and honestly, except for nostalgia, you might as well play the newer games with better graphics. avernum, is one game that will outlast all the graphical updates that ever come, it will be great fun forever. what i also like about it, is its like a novel AND a game all rolled into one. i for one love to read, and find this series irrisitibly different and fun for that reason.
