Whispers of a Machine

Interesting but falls short here & there

It's an interesting game whose biggest strength is the different augmentations that you'll have access, that can vary with the path you choose and that introduce a cool innovative feature. The puzzles were also quite good, very logical. Regarding the story, it was fine but I failed to connect to the characters and I found them a bit dull. The most negative aspect for me was the soundtrack that failed completely in creating immersion. Also the ending (at least the one I chose) was quite poor, I was even surprised it ended when it did... Expect an average length game between 6-9 hours I would rate it 3,5 if I could. Favorite games to help assert how lookalike our opinions could be: Gabriel Knight II - Blade Runner - Sanitarium - Black Mirror II - The Longest Journey - Gemini Rue

Yesterday Origins

Much better than expected

The game exceeded my expectations, frankly quite good! It was an enjoyable adventure with a very good plot and voice acting supported by very beautiful graphics. The puzzles were mostly logical and of a decent difficulty. The only aspect I didn't like was the "inspecting a person" feature which I found quite boring. The music was a bit too off at some parts (but hey, this is highly subjective...). In all, a very entertaining experience and I didn't experiment any technical issues as some users did.

Black Mirror 3

Good but not as good as the BM II

In spite of still being a good game, I felt it failed in maintaining the level of Black Mirror 2. Although it borrows heavily on BM2, (which is normal since BM2 was a "to be continued") some aspects just got lost along the way (not so witty, some not-so-logical-way-of solving a puzzle, boring mini games) and I felt the story dragged a lot and spun always around the same thing, which eventually became somewhat tiresome. An interesting aspect was being able to control two characters near the end, brought some fresh air into play. Still a good game though, the "problem" was that BM2 was really good and makes this one fall short by comparison. Took me around 16,5 hours to conclude the game.

Black Mirror 2

Great game, best of the trilogy!

Undoubtedly the best of its series. One of the strong points is how well constructed and logical the puzzles are, not that easy to find in adventure games. Great sound score and voice acting (although my first impression of the main characters voice was of dislike because of a certain teenager accent, but it quickly changed). Witty and funny remarks and some pints of social criticism helped the general satisfaction around this game. In all it was a very pleasant and long journey (over 20 hours). One of the best adventures games I have played!

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die - Season One

Good but incomplete

D4 is, and probably will remain, unfinished. The entire series consists of the Prologue, EP1 and EP2. That's it, maybe about 5, 6 hours, and you'll never know the answer to the questions raised during the plot. Bear this is in mind when you buy the game. I bought the game on sale so it was still ok, the game does offer solid fun... D4 is what I call a "TV series game". It's like watching a TV series but as a game. There aren't almost any puzzles to be solved through the game and you are taken completely by the hand (you don't even need it ,but you can use the Night Vision feature to make your way even easier). This is not necessarily bad, but having the game categorized as a detective-mistery game can induce in error. Your interaction is mainly walking around, looking, talking and of performing a couple of combos - fortunately quite easy - swiping your mouse in this or that direction. Having said that, this is still a fun title, the game is really weird and it somehow keeps you wondering what will come next. The artwork is really good and the voice acting also (although not everybody will like the guy in w h i t e... ;-) ) Well, if you like "watching" a game, give it a try!

Sanitarium

What a masterpiece!

One of the most intelligent and unique adventure games ever made! The story is brilliant, the voice acting is superb, the attention to sound effects is admiring... a lot of care was put into this game! Moving around can be a little bit awqward at first but you get used to it quickly... dive into this game... if you dare! ;-) On top 5 along with Gabriel Knight II, Blade Runner, The Longest journey, Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis...
