This game aesthetic definetelly brings you back to your youth, at least for the folks who grow up in the 80s and 90s. It fits here, a Good Old Game made today. You can see immediatelly the game looks just like an old Pokemon Game Boy game, the battle system is bassically the same, but doing his own thing and story. Right in the start there's tons of dark and silly humour, a good chunk of immature jokes all around. I fell in love of it from the beggining, pretty fun to play and remminiscent. But I have a warning, though the game is not very long, I complete it in around 25-30 hours with 80% of achievements, it does ask for a commitment in the mid-late game. Places and routes grow bigger and you got to grind a lot to level up, I reached over level 320 or so. You also got to know this game is made as an old school old the way, so you can note a few QoL improvements missing, specially navigating between the skills and the inventory, which is HUGE, you got tons of different weapons and skills, and the mechanics of the game compells you to use them to master them and get permanent bonuses. But the game is pretty great, filled with easter eggs and hidden content, the dev is a nice guy who reads input and helps, there's tons of creativity to explore here. I'm thankful this was made and I'm already thinking in people to give it as a gift to enjoy the nostalgia.
Comedy, fantasy and Turn Based RPG combat. If you like those, this game is probably for you. The game is a refreshing parody of dungeon exploration, filled with trivia nods to a lot of fantasy franchises. After replaying it I notice quite a few references I did not in my first playthrough. DLC are good also, though the Arena one does not add anything to the story, is just combat, but enjoyable regardless. The last one proved that they still have some bullets on the chamber to give. I hope they'll release the next one soon.
This is one kind of game I was always looking for. A game in which you can rule over a group of people and influence what happens in a very close and beliavable way. You got a village and a council to advise you, the game bassically happens in seasons where you made decisions about exploring or allocating resources, attacking other villages or defending from them, trading, using magic.... The way the experience gets more close and real than other is the narrative, this game is filled with lore and dialogue, events happen, disputes between clans, monsters, discoveries....and your choices impact the world greatly. For an older game, is incredible how far it goes, my only big issue with it is that it's scripted and there are limited pathways, once you know which choices are the good ones, the one that gave you a better dice chance, get's let's interesting, but there's still a few amount of replayability. I would LOVE to see in the future a game like this but AI driven to give you more choices and keep playing indefinetelly.
