Do you like hack n slash? Do like retro feel in game? Do you like Metal? Yes? Then get this game (Get it even if it's a "No"). The good: + Great music + Good pixel art (With optional CRT effects which adds more retro feel) + Controller Support + Satisfying combat + Challenging enemies + Awesome sub-bossfights + Awesome bossfights + Checkpoints + Good replay value. The Bad: - Keys can't be changed from in game. (But you wont need to chaange them as there are 2 control layouts) - Blocking and reflecting projectiles need some practice (read SACRIFICE). - Some gamers may find it repetitive. - Waiting for platform can sometimes be boring. Final verdict: This is a spectacular gaming gem and anyone who like 2D games must play it. For me it's a solid 8/10.
This review focus on few things that could make this game more better. - The checkpoint slots (there is no slots and game only get autosave). - Don't jump too far (Because you will die!!!) - There is a minor bug at hidden gate which sometimes make game crash (you wont even notice it). - If you are playing game and if your CPU is used100% then your character can jump higher. (This is very helpful in a puzzle at the end levels). - A hint about puzzles could be helpful. Because of this you will have to lookout for tiny details. - Game is very easy just have patience. (I finished it twice back to back). Game could have been long but it looks like it was ended in hurry. Post credit scene shows a chance for a sequel. I wish devs could release some kind DLC/Updates which add few more contents (like editor, a new game mode and/or few more levels.) Overall it's a very solid mind bender. Thank you Doc0075 for this beautiful game.
Samorost 2 is short. It's going to resonate differently with each individual. It is from the makers of Machinarium and Botanicula. I found Machinarium easier than this one, but it hasn't got such a sad ending than the former. You got no hints as in Machinarium and this time you are a little dwarf on your mission to save your dog from alien abuse. Some people rightly complain that too often objects seem to fall out of thin air rather than having an understandable mechanism behind it (unlike Machinarium and the first half of Samorost2). It has some pros and cons Pros: + nice visuals + weird, bizarre world and atmosphere + great music & sound effects + cute main character + cute story (it's cute, and well communicated without words) + funny ending scene Cons: - too many timing-based puzzles - too many mediocre puzzles - non-intuitive interface - very tiny play area - weak plot - way too short (one hour of gameplay) Overall this game is short but sweet and beautiful point and click adventure. And OH MY DOG! :)
An overall pretty good experience (I got this for free on steam and most probably you too ;) ). It's actually short enough to keep you entertained for one evening. The graphics seem simple. It gives you a classic feeling of old horror movie. The black and white ones where the television had just started to come out. Unlike other horror games, Nosferatu gives you the ability to fight off the devils and monsters. There is a variety of weapons, each with very different purposes. The Good: + Atmosphere + Fast game pace and progression + Weapons + Story and concept + Enemies (bosses included) + Great inventory system + Great replayability The Bad: - Poor Option menu - Some minor bugs (like invisible enemies) - Some minor illogicality (like the procedure to save the last two family members) - Quite short (you need 3-4 hours max to finish game) The Ugly: - The graphics, oh gawd... Give this game a shot and don't forget to install the widescreen resolution patch as well. We've seen way worse titles from that era. And this game also needs a serious HD remake. By the way, this game includes one of the most badass grandfathers of all times. You have been warned.
Not a bad sequel, it just puts more emphasis on the tactical side of the game, and the paranormal horror side suffers a bit. Once you get into a mech (which is very fun, don't get me wrong!) it's hard to get back into the horror vibe. The Best thing is it comes with DLC which would cost you $9.99 on Steam. So GOG.COM has better deal. The Good: +Game looks good both artisically and technically. + Game has a variety of weapons and grenades. Certain weapons are very creative while others are what you would expect in a FPS. + The game has really solid level design (takes place over a series of different environments and locations). +The shooting mechanics feel good. The Average: AI feels average compared to the first FEAR. F.E.A.R. was renowned for its amazing AI and to this day I still think it sets the standard for AI in a FPS game. This game though doesn't seem to have that. The AI is not bad by any means, however compared to the first game it doesn't feel close. The horror elements are not as a good as the first game. One of the most satisfying weapons in any FPS game was the shotgun from the first game. In this game, the shotgun doesn't even feel close to satisfying. I found the game to be very easy even on the normal setting, play on hard if you want a challenge. The Bad: - The dialogue in this game is terrible. It becomes difficult to take the story seriously or be afraid of what's around the corner when the characters are saying things that just make you shake your head. -The game has a certain flow to it but the entire ending gameplay segment feels frustrating and out of place. -Multiplayer is dead. (Although may be GOG.COM may fix it via GOG Galaxy) Conclusion On the one hand this game does things a lot better than the first, on the other hand it also doesn't seem to improve any of the flaws and in some cases makes it worse. For a FPS game it is very solid and should provide you with a 5-6 hours of fun.
You can't really take this game seriously but that's okay. Supreme League of Patriots follows the Telltale formula, splitting its story up into three distinct ‘issues’ as they’d call them in the comic book world. The Telltale comparisons is particularly noteworthy not only because the game is an episodic point and click, but also due to its similarities to the Sam & Max series. Having said that, Sam & Max always toed the line between adult and kid-friendly humor, whereas Patriots takes a hop, a skip and a jump over that line, so expect adult gags aplenty. It is fun in its own weird way. I'll try to sum up the pros and cons for you: Pros: + the story is goofy + the character you play makes you feel relieved that you finished high school + nice background music Cons: - the graphics for the characters could be improved - too much dialogue at certain points in the game which can be frustrating, especially if you have to talk to Mell in order to find out where objects might be - no flow in the game play. You have to talk to Mell a lot which is a pain in the ♥♥♥ with the amount of dialogue Overall the game is fun to play but I do wish they would change some things: * Moving around using ASDW * shorter dialogues * improved character graphics * easier access to items while investigating/using them * improve the main character's IQ so you don't need Mell for everything If you like a goofy point and click game than this game is for you. :)
