I was having issues with Close Combat 3 and 5 but using dxwnd I was able to fix all that. dxwnd is a DirectX adapter of sorts, that can be used to tweak DirectX settings. Download it form its homepage and then Google dxwnd "profiles" for Close Combat. It's guaranteed to work on modern hardware and OS.
