It's July 26, 2019, and I just download this incredible piece of software from 22 years ago, installed, and just lost 2 hours of my life like I did 22 years ago, not even realize it. That, before I decided to search for an actualiced engine and proceed to download (http://www.yamagi.org/quake2/). There, 2 hour later Im happy like a child. This is the mark of a awesome game. Its not nostalgia, Its pure gaming gold that can keep you going even 22 years later like nothing. Its the music, the pacing, the crude but efective gameplay. Its a jewel.
Ok. I play this one many many ages ago ;), was one of my top 5, just love it. Never found a tactical game like it. So, when I saw it in GOG was a no brainer. I just feel a little afraid when I was downloading it that my memory and the nostalgia made it better than it was, it happen with a couple of titles that I got nowadays and they didnt felt like i remember... This was no the case. This game get my every time. It absorbs me. From the first mission. I was afraid that the oudated graphics break the inmersion. They didn't. Don't get my wrong. It really have dated visuals, but the mechanics are so well implemented that once you get into a mission and the tension rises the visuals works just fine and you forget about it. Just want to make the perfect mission, one more mission, don't make any mistakes. Is just the best in his gendre. If you like tactical war games this is a must have!
Im not a fan of these types of games... but this makes the exception. Finish both on two weekends, and not because they were short or easy, just because i couldnt leave the games until the end. I read so many good reviews, but for some time they were only on Steam with that stupid TAGES DRM, so I pass at every sale... Just when it cames out in GOG I got them, I dont regret it. Great games!!!!
This is my N° 1, followed by the Fallout clasical series. This is a game of true choices, I cant tell anything without spoiler, but the game give you big choices in a sutil way you cant even realice in a first run, it really surpise me back then. In this game (unlike the last "episode") you can avoid all the mayor battles and win the game by hacking and stealth. You can make your own path. there is a lot of secrets to reveal. The plot is great, and by the time it was relaesed, it was the dream of a mayor geek X files fan like me... What can I say, I owned retail, on Steam, and now I gonna get it here. By the way, the original retail CD was absolutly DRM free, I still own it and play with a private copy I made in a simple cd copy soft, no hack no special image needed, I loved that... thats also why I bought it again... You cant miss it!!!
